I lived in my apartment for about 4 months, but I only actually stayed there half the time. The apartment complex is old, and at first glance, the mgmt company did their best to maintain it. Unfortunately, I did not discover the actual state the apartment was in until I signed my lease.

Over the course of 4 months, my apartment was exterminated multiple times due to various bugs I found. While I expected some bugs since my apartment faced the woods, these were the all American nasty roaches. My apartment might be cluttered at times, but it's never dirty. I tried working with the mgmt, only to have them tried to tell me it's 'normal' to find roaches in my bed (when I never eat in my bedroom) and to actually see a gigantic roach crawl in through the fuse box in the kitchen, insinuate it was my fault and that the only other solution they can offer is for me to break my lease and pay the fees. Moreover, they failed to keep promises about exterminating other apartments around me, in case the roaches were coming in through the vents.

Besides the bugs, there were several car break-ins after I moved in. There's ample parking, but the lot was not well lit. I heard sirens every night when I was actually there, although I can't say where the cops were going. I just didn't expect so many crimes happening in the middle of the night in a relatively small town.

I've lived at other apartments before and never had a bug problem like this. I chose it because it was the most decent for a relatively cheap price (there isn't a wide selection of apartments in the area), but after my experience, I would rather pay more to make sure I get a decent night's sleep without worrying about bugs in my bed.
