I have remained at Broadstone coles crossing for three years simply because it it close to my work. I'm going to keep this short and to the point... The office staff is nice and helpful at first, then they could care less. The parking is HORRIBLE (unless you have a garage). the water mains leak and pool up in the parking lot, causing the water to be shut off about once a month for repairs. The "security" gates are stuck open half of the time. And the office staff does little to enforce it own policies...EX: last 4th of July everyone was celebrating at around 9PM when a resident became irate and decided to bring out a firearm to end the block party, the Harris county Sherrifs showed up and fixed everything (office staff did nothing) Several people have complained about people walking dogs without leashes and the dogs being agressive ( again the office has done nothing) and the lists goes on and on.....

If you are so unhappy why don't you move? I have been here for over a year and the access gate has never been broken or left open. The dog issue is not that big of a deal and anywhere you have dogs, you will have some without leases. Maybe you should get a house!

Something you need to realize is that the staff is often limited in what they can do in certain situations. You mention an irate resident bringing a firearm to end a party and seemed upset that the staff did not handle the situation. You seem surprised/upset that they deferred to Harris County Police to handle it...Come on now, what did you expect them to do? Bring their own 9mm out and shoot back? What is a staff of non law enforcement personnel supposed to do in a situation like that? Risk their lives?? Would you?? Don't we ALL pay Harris County Sherrif's Department to handle these very situations???

As far as residents walking around with dogs not on leashes, I hate to tell you but this happens everywhere--in apartments and in residential areas alike. The culprit is not the staff, it is inconsiderate, rude and trashy people whose parents apparently raised them to act irresponsibly. And unfortunately, while there are certain leasing standards that a staff have to adhere to, they cannot always find out every little thing about a resident prior to moving in (so they may not know that the person is an irresponsible pet owner). Also, unless the staff is there 24 hours a day, they are not always going to be there to witness these events. And they shouldn't have to be....are YOU at your job 24 hours a day?? And before you say "that is what they are paid for", please know that most of your staff probably makes less than $11/hr...would YOU work 24 hours a day for less than $11/hr??

You will find that many of your complaints, though certainly understandable, will not go away when you move to a new apartment or a new house. Crime happens everywhere and so do irresponsible pet owners. I am a home renter (and former apartment manager) and have experienced both--and I pay a lot of money to live in a "nice" neighborhood!!

Sorry to sound like I am on a soapbox. But I can tell you that MOST managers do their best with what they have to work with....that means as far as residents, budgets and upper management. They cannot just throw someone out because another resident doesn't like them....for one thing, it is discrimination (and not legal) and for another thing, their management company often won't let them.

So please try to bear with your staff and remember that 1. they are human 2. good communication goes a long way--you often catch more flies with honey than with vinegar (and this is no different for your staff members) 3. they work very hard for little pay under tiring circumstances....and they have to try and not take it personally when they have angry residents yelling and screaming at them on a regular basis....

Sorry Cmemorie7, but the management CAN do things about dogs off leashes and dogs being aggressive and it is their job but they choose not to do it. I lived in an apartment that had rules about such dogs plus a poop-scoop rule. If you were caught with a dog off the leash or not picking up after your dog, you were fined $50 - $100. Trust me, people got the point quick. It shouldn't take that but people are just too stupid and inconsiderate now days. As far as $11 an hour goes, the same goes for the staff, if they don't like their jobs for that pay, then they can leave too.
