Security in apartment communities

I am in the apartment business. I use to live at Village in the woods and yes, there are some problems. So what!! I am in the apartment business and I have worked at more than 11 communities in the last 6 years. At everyone of them there has always been some form of crime from the crapy property in cypress station all the way to the A property where the rents are over $900 per month. This is Houston people. Where ever you go something is going to happen you are NOT safe anywhere!!! Apartment communities have NEVER been responsible for the safety of any resident. It even states in your lease contract that YOU are responsible for your own safety, you signed to it. Every lease contract is the same except the 1st page if they are part of Texas Apartment Association. Read it if you don't believe me. You residents should read it anyway. I am sooooo tired of DUMB residents comming in to the office and tring to dispute things that are in your contract. Anyway, I was getting off the subject, when a resident decides to tell the office that they have been robbed, car broken into, etc., what do they honestly think the staff can do'! Honestly' Do you think that somehow they were in on it' Do you think the staff automatically knows who did it' Do you expect the staff to arrest someone' To replace your crap' What do residents expect' We are not the law, your should contact the police!!!! Duh. It is not that the office does not care, there is just NOTHING we can do!!!!! Almost done. If you rented a house from a homeowner, and it was broken into while you lived there, would you blame the owner' What expectations would you have from the owner of the house' Probably none. You would probably contact the police right' Then why don't you people do the same damn thing while living in your apartment. Again, your personal safety is your responsibility and nobody elses.
