Ok. This is a system glitch I can only assume. I wrote a response to the guy that was putting down renters in the previous post on 10-10-2005. Today 4-3-2006 I wrote this and it overwrote my old response! Strange, huh. Anyway, maybe you can only post out here once. Seems you should be able to write every 6 months or so.
This is a very big (like 500 units) complex. Sometimes people don't follow all the rules, well, I don't even follow all the rules. For the last couple of weeks there has been some Yahoo driving way to fast, peeling rubber and well, making this very unsafe. He was an accident waiting to happen.
This week, after several residents complained( I actually never got around to it because I knew my neighbor would be doing it for everyone), they caught him. I'm pretty sure they were waiting for him. I don't have a clue what was said or done but he isn't driving fast anymore. This is what the management here does. They listen to us, it may take a while for them to solve an issue but they do listen. When they take care of issues, they do it quietly in order to keep the complex safe and "user friendly" for the most part.
Just thought I'd let you all know that while Village is far from perfect, it's not all that bad either especially for the price.

BTW, Elvis, what is up with this new mowing company. They need to sharpen the blades of their mowers and bend over to pull weeds! After three weeks of these guys, I like the old company a lot better! You had to give these guys a chance but I don't think they're gonna make it up to Village standards. I can't give you high marks on landscaping though the new plants are very nice, the crabgrass just ruins it.

You are right. I should not have made my point by putting the resident down. It was incensitive of me. Management does make the residents aware of these incidents. When a report is made to the office of criminal activity, a letter is distributed to the community. When the letter is sent out, everyone freaks out and suddenly wants to move out and be "released" from their lease contract because they don't feel safe. Domestice disputes, however, do not have to be reported. Once again, crime is everywhere. Anyway, I am glad you are happy at Village. I hear there is a whole new staff again. I hope the residents can be understanding.

It's not a whole new staff. One of the assistant managers (Elvis) became the manager. I actually think he's way cool and he has been my favorite person in the office for a long time. I think it's about time they made him the manager. The maintenance crew has been just the same for longer than I've lived here. The issues with the new residents I mentioned in my last post have calmed down as I predicted and just about everyone gets along great. The complex is actually pretty with all the revamping. They still have a bit of work to do on the parking lot, landscape and I think they are putting in a weight room. I will be soooo happy when they finish all the work but it's not as much of a pain as it was when they were doing massive remodeling. People get scared and don't realize that no matter where they go, there is going to be crime. I really believe that negative elements at Village are lower than in most complexes around here but that is literally only my opinion. I speak with a lot of the folks that live here and I hear little things, occasionally I see things but that's about it. I'm not afraid to sit outside on my patio and smoke if I wake up at 2AM. I'm in the back of the complex and perhaps that helps, I don't know. I'd really like to hear from others if they feel differently. Note: When my lease comes up for renewal, I will be out here complaining again :) |
