Wow, everyone goes on here just to trash the place. I kinda like the place. I do admit that it does feel a little ghetto and there is some crime, but c'mon people! There's going to be crime no matter where you live. They have an off duty Sheriff that lives here who walks the entire place most nights. I've seen him in action and I feel much better having him here. I see Sheriff cars patrolling from time to time as well. There is a security onsite who roams around in a little cart, but I'll be the first to admit I don't think he does much good when it comes to vandalism, but it is good to know there is someone patrolling around to hear if you scream. Personally I did look around. I was on a tight budget but needed plenty of room and VIW was the best choice. My only complaint of the whole place is the parking situation. If I get home any day of the week past 7, I have a very slim chance of parking near my apt. I have to park and walk 3 buildings down sometimes. They are implimenting resident/guest parking areas which should help the parking situation and the front gates will be activated soon as well. I can't wait, I'm crossing my fingers it'll all help. My only other comment is I do wish the gym stayed open later, but that's really inconsequential.
I've had a nice stay so far at VIW, the office staff have been pleasant, the maintenance staff are above par going out of their way to take care of you and your needs, and I lucked out because I know it can be unusual but my neighbors are quiet and kind. After 7 or 8 it becomes a ghost town, no one's really outside, and I don't hear anything at all except the AC fans going and the cicada's buzzing. I love watching movies and watch them late at night and loud with my very nice surround sound system and my downstairs neighbor says he doesn't hear anything except heavy footsteps once in a while, so I'm assuming sound carrying isn't a problem.
As for people selling drugs... I wouldn't doubt it, but then again my friend just had some drug dealers caught at her apt complex and she lives in a very nice very expensive complex. Crime and drugs are present no matter where you live, it's unavoidable. If you think there's someone dealing drugs, then call the office late at night and leave a message, the Sheriff told me it actually pages him. And believe me, he'll check it out.
The upkeep is nice, the maintenance guys are out picking up trash at early hours of the morning every day. Gardeners come every week, trash gets picked up twice a week. But it is an old complex, so of course it's going to show it a little. I personally think they've done a good job keeping it up. The laundry rooms though could use a lot of work, but it's not 5 star living so I say deal. Pay $30 extra a month and rent your own W/D, I do and it's totally worth it.
So complainers complain, its what you do best. Whine whine whine, but everyone else should know that there will be goods and bads no matter where you live and VIW is a heck of a lot better than it could be... go move up to some Tomball apts and you might change perspective. It's cheap here, I get twice the apt for the same price as down the street, and have had no problems so far (but I don't go looking for it).

We've lived in VIW for 18 years. We've looked at other apartments but you can't beat this one for quiet, space, price, and quality of maintenance. If you have a problem it is taken care of that day. And I've never had a safety concern when we've left for weeks at a time. We leave decorative items on the patio and nobody has ever bothered them. We did plan to move a few years ago when the place looked so bad, but they invested a lot of money to fix it up and it looks much better. I'd rather have my money in the bank than in high-priced apartments with better features and less room. There are a lot of kids because we are very close to excellent schools, but we've never had any problem; shortly after Katrina there were a few isolated incidents but any neighborhood can say that.

I agree on the most part with your review, but I only saw the man on the cart the year i lived there. True, its the cheapest apartments in the cypress area, and probably alot safer then south houston but I will say this, i dont think its a good place for small kids. (p..s pinnicle apartments is cheaper now!)
