Do NOT Move Here!!!
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 5/29/2006
Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
I lived at this complex for over a year, moved in when they were BRAND NEW. Over the course of my lease, the complex grew increasingly worse (inside and outside). Some of the residents were rude, even hostile, and management was too cowardly to adress these problems. I had to call the police a few times. The on-site security guard is a JOKE. The complex is OVERPRICED and DIRTY and full of CIGARETTE SMOKE. The place is so filthy that I have been embarassed to bring guests into the corridors, garage, and elevators to get to my apartment. There were always pet stains and the place smelled. The trash room overflowed and even backed up over the weekends (with TERRIBLE smells), and the stairwells were also filthy. I asked management to clean them (which included a tampon in the stairwell) and they never did. I asked management to post no smoking signs in the elevators and they flatly refused. The elevators are frequently not working, extremely slow, and tenants receive no notification when the service elevator is on hold (even when it is not being used by anyone). The stairs are faster. When I moved in, they did not even have the elevator put on hold for my use, but they did for other tenants. The other tenants are so loud that I had to step into the hallway several times at 2, 3 and 4 o'clock in the morning to ask them to be quiet. Also, the windows are VERY drafty and the floors are not caulked. I had to put in a maintenance request to get them to caulk the tub with water-proof caulk, and had to request pest control several times. Also, my dishwasher was not working when I moved in (despite these being new apartments) and I had to make several maintenance requests before they finally fixed it. The cable television service (SBC, now AT&T) always went out with the SLIGHTEST of storms or rain or high winds, and for several months I could not receive all of the channels I was paying for. Parking is bad. Though spots are reserved underground, other inconsiderate tenants frequently park in your spot, and management does little or nothing about it (though I was paying $100 per month for parking). I was not informed of the extra fee for parking underground until after I had fill out an application and paid the deposit and came in to sign the lease. The first management also altered my paperwork AFTER I signed it, without my knowledge, and then lied about it. The only way I could prove this was by giving verifying information (they refused to give me copies). People also park in the ground-level garage that are going to the American Airlines center or visiting the West End so your guests often have problems parking, and that's when the garage isn't blocked by large moving vans/trucks. I couldn't wait to get out when my lease expired. I moved out 6 months ago and still have not been reimbursed for over-payment of utilities. The complex switched management with no prior notice to tenants. They did not send out new leases with the new management, and when I moved out, they "lost" my paperwork and move-out notification. The management is incompetent. The place could have been really nice, but it is not.
