Nice apartment, some problems.

I've lived here for about three months now, and for the most part I like where I live and will continue to live here.
The apartments are nice with wood floors, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances and from a general aesthetic point of view, the building is pretty nice. My apartment had never been lived in before I moved in though, and there were quite a lot of construction issues: light switches and outlets that didn't work, incorrect installation of hot and cold water, etc. Not all of these have been fixed, even after I informed management about them. Granted, I haven't had time to call back, but really I shouldn't have to call twice. With the first rain storm there was a leak in one of my windows, and also the wooden floor seems like it's about to buckle in one area. A crappy design flaw is my closet door, which opens inwards and means that about a quarter of my closet space is completely unusable. I was told that there was nothing that could be done about this. Overall I do like my apartment, and most problems have been fairly minor - but problems are there, and it might take a couple of calls for things to be fixed inside your apartment.
Outside of your apartment, however, specifically in the parking garage is another story. I am really unimpressed by the garage. There is definitely adequate parking, so that's not a problem at all. The problem is in the security. The fact is that while this is a nice and pretty upmarket building, it is about a ten minute walk from a really bad part of town. With that in mind, it is completely unacceptable that the garage door is broken and left wide open for days - sometimes weeks - at a time. Furthermore, some of the remote door locks inside the garage are broken, and you can get into the building just by opening them. This is totally not OK. I have told management about this twice, and nothing has been done whatsoever.
I am on the same level as the pool, so noise can be a problem, and I am expecting that during the summer it might be a little annoying. I can definitely hear my neighbours some of the time, but it's not that big of a deal. I can confirm what others have said - you can hear planes flying overhead some of the time. It's never been a big deal to me and it's always pretty quick, but I can see that if you're a light sleeper that might be annoying.
