Keep it Moving if You Want Management with People Skills

The staff can be rude, hostile and defensive...anytime there has been a problem with maintenance issues or I've pointed out failure to uphold their end of the bargain, like that darned "internet cafe" that was supposed to happen eons ago, the manager in the office gets all defensive and just plain catty. I really think the staff is in over their heads in dealing with complaints, obviously there's been no training, or they know they suck and therefore get all defensive about it. I had called repeatedly about problems with my air conditioner [when it was over 100 for several consecutive days last summer] and the maintenance came out several times, but never managed to fix the problem...the problem [running continuously and never getting any cooler inside] continued off and on for several months after that, and I kept getting exorbitant power bills [$300 a month], which they refused to acknowledge any ownership in and refused to do anything about...needless to say, I'm moving ASAP when the lease is up. As apartment complexes go, I know you can't expect perfection, but air conditioning is a basic necessity in Texas summer, in my book. The gates timers are off, so they are wide open late at night and middle of the day, but closed during rush hours, requiring the access card and backing up residents, which I've mentioned to them several times to no avail. The off timing on the gates has allowed those pesky door-to-door peddlers to frequent on the regular as of late. The apartment complex itself is nice, but the surrounding neighborhood is sketchy, and lots of suspect people can be seen walking by at all hours. Tons of people with dogs here, and none of them pick up the poop, so beware of yard bombs too. I wouldn't recommend for the prices they are charging; they just went up on rates by several hundred dollars for releasing (over $1200 for 2-bedroom), so be prepared to get bent over after your first lease.
