I've been happy here, but...

I've lived here for almost six months now and I would say all in all, I've been quite happy here. The other tenants are friendly and the Amli staff organizes social events often to help residents get better acquainted with others in the building. With that said, I have a few gripes about this place. First of all, the hallways are open-air, often making it an absolutely trek to the elevator on your way to work early in the morning. Secondly, whoever engineered the plumbing system deserves to have his degree revoked. The parking garages constantly leak an unknown substance (which makes me most unhappy right after I've taken my car to the wash). They have been working on fixing this but it is still a problem. And by the way, in order to work on fixing the problem they shut off everyone's water from 9-4pm for 3 days straight. I work close by and like to come home for lunch, thus didn't appreciate this so much. Lastly, the apartments are obviously somewhat cheaply built, with counter tops similar to those you would find in a middle school science lab. There are also no microwaves (and trust me, I could've found way better things to spend 100 bucks on). The walls are poorly insulated, and as a matter of fact, I can hear the dog who lives above me running around right now, and the owner is chasing him. This is an everyday occurrence. The leasing office should have thought to put everybody with a pet on the first floor, as this kind of noise on an everyday basis is unreasonable. I love dogs but would not subject mine to living in an apartment. With all of this said, the gym is fabulous, the "pool" (aka. the fountain they allow you to play in) is a fun place to relax and meet people, and the staff are overall friendly. And let me please emphasize: YOU CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION!Honestly, it's less than a block all the bars and restaurants on McKinney, so you are close by without all the busy street noise. There is a Siegel's liquor store RIGHT next door and a Which Wich sandwich place right across the street (which is a serious threat to my waistline). There is also a Starbucks and Palm Beach Tan within a few hundred feet. I would recommend this place to others, despite the issues I mentioned above.

I agree. Location is great but building construction is extremely poor. I lived in a property before this that charged the same rent for much better finish out and more solid construction. I've been happy with the central location but overall, its a step down for me. I hear substantial noise above and to both sides. Then again, my favorite bar is right across the street so its all relative.
