Mostly Positive, but One Big Negative

Been living here for almost three years in a one bedroom, and my experience has generally been positive. The apartments are nice, the office tends to leave you alone, the pool area is nice, and parking is adequate (though it's a beating walking all the way from the garage to some of the further apartments), and the gym is above average for apartments.
I think mostly young professionals rent the one bedrooms (and therefore they're a lot quieter that the two bedrooms, which I'm guessing are rented by SMU). It's true, SMU students do run the gamut here, as evidenced by their mustang parking stickers everywhere, but oh well. Yes, college kids are messy and noisy, and drive like a bat out of hell through the parking garage while talking on their cell phones, but all in all, it's not that big a bother (if you live in a one bedroom anyway). I think management does a fine enough job of keeping the place clean - every morning I seem to see guys cleaning the grounds. The apartments are nice, free of maintenance problems, and the office seems responsive to reasonable requests.
Some smaller issues: the water pressure (in my place anyway) sucks, and the AC units are some kind of super energy saver units or something because it takes all day and night to cool your place off in the summer if the AC's been switched off - so best to keep it turned on at all times when it's hot out.
The major concern of mine is one shared by everyone it seems - having your car broken into. I got the impression through pamphlets on my door that this was a problem; I started to wonder when it would happen to me, and then it did - and no, I didn't leave it unlocked or valuables inside - they wanted to steal the whole car, but somehow I got lucky (and for how long') Anyway, it soured me big time, especially since this is such an ongoing problem. I think it's nigh time they put effective security measures up - cameras throughout, guard controlled access at night, or something, but I doubt it's going to happen. Hope you have insurance, 'cause you'll need it. Eventually, there will be more than property crime too.
