My husband moved in here a couple of months ago and absolutely LOVE our loft. Great view and location, Deep Ellum is really turning around. The building is very safe and we haven't had/heard of any issues since we moved in in March. I also love it because they will let you do whatever you want for decor as long as you don't paint over any of the historical exposed assets, as long as you can figure out how to paint 14 ft. walls!

A few things to keep in mind:

1) The entrances face the inside so EVERYONE and their dog (literally) echo's. They do have quiet hours but if you have problems, you have to wait until the morning because there isn't any staff there in the evening to report it to.

2) Deep Ellum is being completely re-done and I am guessing that real estate will continue to rise the more developed it becomes. If you don't have any wiggle room in your housing budget, I would be cautious unless you only plan on being here for a few years. Otherwise, these are very decently priced for a loft rentals in Dallas for now.

3) The people who work up front are EXTREMELY snobby. These are URBAN lofts and attract "different" types of people who are usually pretty relaxed (at least for the people that we have met). The lofts aren't marble floors, granite counter tops, and lined with gold. Their front desk staff (---- and then there is a new girl) act like these are $300k lofts that they are representing. Don't get me wrong, you should take pride in your work, but they are very snobby and rude and don't really fit in with the people they deal with on a day to day basis. Westdale needs to pay more attention to their staffing and make sure that they are able to relate to the people that they are dealing with. We got the loft we did because of the loft itself. ---- didn't convince or pursuede us of anything and actually made us think twice about wether or not we wanted to move here.

4) There are alot of complaints about electricity bills on here. As long as you don't run an electronic warehouse and keep you air turned off when you are not home and really pay attention to keeping your lights off, it really isn't that bad. The apartments we were in before had 200 less sq. ft. and we pay the same now as we did there, plus we have 2 almost ceiling to floor windows. If it is a concern though, pay attention when you are looking at the lofts to which directions your windows face. Also, the lofts in the basement don't have big windows, plus, they cool themselves so I'm sure that would help. We looked at some but decided that they weren't for us so we got one on the top floor instead. I say as long as you keep the blinds closed and have some type of curtain to close if the sun shines straight in, you will be fine!

5) Make sure that you research Deep Ellum befor you decide to live here. It has alot of history and is very urban-art-eclectic. A lot of fun events and stuff take place down here and it has a very fun night life. A little off the beaten path, so if you are looking for upper class, prissy, classic american neighborhood, this is definetely NOT it. Try uptown by Knox-Henderson and Cole Ave., West Village, Highland Park, or Northwest Highway over by Preston for that. Anything north of downtown to the west of 75 is usually pretty non-urban and very very safe.

Yesterday I toured these lofts. Unfortunately the two lofts that I looked at faced west and..well...Dallas is known for it's hot summers so I may pass on this property right now and see if something else opens up in the building. As far as the staff goes I have to say that I found them to be positively delightful. I worked with both of the young women in the office and they made me laugh quite a bit. They made me feel comfortable and to be honest it was their personalities coupled with the total kewl factor of the building that has sold me on the property. Can't wait to see what opens up.
