I just moved here from New York, where I was paying $1200 for about 400 square feet, so you could have put me in a freaking shoe box here in Dallas and I'd be happy.
However, I had a lot of problems moving in. Was told the carpet would be re-done, but when the pre-arranged move-in day came, it was as nasty as ever. It then took them a week just to shampoo it. Massive hassle. My leasing agent was completely unfamiliar with the entire process, told me things like laundry cards existed (they didn't).
The gate thing is the biggest annoyance ever. Friends can't even be buzzed in, you have to track them down and open the gate for them. Fitness room is mediocre at best and the laundry "room" is an embarrassment. it doesn't even have glass in the windowpane.
For the money, the location isn't bad and my maintenance complaints have been dealt with fairly quickly. Meh.
