Please consider another complex...

When we first moved to Dallas and looked for an apartment, this place was recommended to me by an apartment finder (who was paid a commission). At first glance it looked OK...close to a few stores, in a good part of town, etc. The management was pretty nice when I signed the lease (but they did not bend over backwards to make anything easy). Only after we moved in did we realize that we were in for problems.
To name a few:
1. The amenities that they advertised were not always available. (i.e. the work-out room, the billiards room, etc.) When we confronted the property manager she said that we must have been given an outdated list of amenities.
2. We were limited to services like cable and DSL that were "approved" by the complex...We could not get the type of service that we wanted and the only services that we could get were those that were "partnered with" (aka giving kickbacks to) the property manager.
3. If I ran a canine feces processing plant, I could have made a mint from this place. We could not walk anywhere in the grass without fear of hitting one of those special land mines left by the neighborhood dogs. Management NEVER enforced cleaning up after pets.
4. The rent was outrageous in relation to other complexes in the area. $1200 for a small two bedroom apartment!
5. Constant issues with maintenance. They never came when they were scheduled and took several weeks (if not months) to fix problems.
6. Management often entered our apartment without prior notification. We occasionally found items moved or misplaced which tipped us off that something was not right. They would only let us know that they were there AFTER we inquired.
7. Parking was a nightmare...If you had two cars, good luck. You were given only one parking pass. We were told that we would have to park our second car elsewhere (i.e. the parking lot of a Wal-Mart that was 1/4 mile away).
8. The property management team was the absolute WORST I have ever seen. Turnover was constant...some of their own maintenance people complained about how poorly the complex was managed.
I think you get the idea...
We moved out after seven months (thankfully). I decided that I would rather pay another deposit, connection fees, etc. than to live in this complex for another day. If we had decided to stay there, we would have enjoyed a nice 15% increase in our rent.
Be careful...The complex looks nice at first glance, but begins to show it's true colors in a short time. There are MUCH better places to move into in the North Dallas area.
