Not as safe as it seems....

For all of the posters talking about how safe this place is, you may want to talk to some of your neighbors. Our apartment was broken into in broad daylight while we were at work. Someone used a screwdriver to force our front door open and they took about $4,000 worth of our belongings. We alerted our neighbors upstairs. One of whom said that her car had been broken into. This is not the first story I have heard about cars being damaged/burglarized. If you read all of the reviews for these apartments, you will find that this is not the first home invasion here. The Management did have the damaged deadbolts replaced. However, the gentleman who replaced them said that they are poor quality and it would take very little effort to get past them. Also, the gates that are supposed to help make this place safer almost never work. They have closed twice on our truck and taken the paint off. When we confronted the Management about this they had an "Oh, well" attitude about it. They offered to do nothing, even though they were at fault.
I don't know if others have had similar problems, but I do know that people seem to be moving out in droves. Our side of the building has more empty apartments than occupied ones, which is why nobody noticed ours being entered. There have been several occasions where someone (we still don't know who) tried to open our door in the middle of the night. They obviously did not have a key and they never got in. This should have been a sign of things to come though.
We had several problems when we moved in, as well. The carpeting was not replaced from the previous tenants. It had black marks on it and it is completely worn down. The Management offered to have it cleaned, which did absolutely no good. Also, as others have mentioned the apartments are poorly insulated. We hear our upstairs neighbors stomping around all hours of the night and day.
These apartments are not all bad. They are beautifully designed and very different from the run-of-the-mill apartment. That is not enough to keep us here now. We had intended to stay here until we bought a house. But, when our lease is up we will definitely be finding somewhere new apartment to live in.

Not to disregard your concerns, but I find it highly unlikely that someone would say that your locks were poor quality and would take little effort to get past them. And as far as the gates that is something that could be worked on however, I really don't think having gates really matter. I've come home at night and had two to three people follow me in when the gates were working which has happened at every place I've lived at with gates. Even when I lived at a place that was downtown for $900 on a one bedroom. I know that every time I've had a problem the staff and management have always been very helpful. Maybe if you would sit down with them and express to them your concerns maybe they could help you too. Like I said, I'm not trying to say what happened to isn't bad, but it seems that alot of what your saying stems from frustration. Because even if you have a house someone can break in and steal everything you own. Even at the end you said it wasn't all bad and you even gave pretty good ratings on other things. Hopefully, everything works out for you and insurance gets you taken care of. Good luck!! |

You know, I really like an informative review when I'm shopping for a new apartment; however, this one is absolutely nausiating to the max. Everything under the sun is someone elses fault. Give me a break. Ignorance is the hallmark of this publication. A burglary is mischacterized as a "home invasion", hello! Is there anyone home? And several times someone has attempted to gain entry with a key? Perhaps the complainer is the target here and not the property? And everyone is supposed to look out for them and their apartment? Almost all modern apartments are built like those in question, in that there are no windows in the hallways: So Everyone should have X-ray vision or the complex should post a guard at every door? And people are "moving out in droves"? Ever check the parking lot for a space? That's rediculous, and I'll bet this frivolously slanderous - but "look" it's signed by "anonymous", even though this person must be well known to the management since they are complaining all the time about everything. Even the poor gates are supposed to have sensors like an elevator to protect them. Wow, I would like them to point out some complex that has that feature. What a couple of chronic complainers, who apparently create their own bad luck. If I managed that apartment complex I would be pleased as punch if those tenants moved out. Give me an objective assessment please!

The response from stickyhot on 10/27/05 is the exact response the apartments will give you if you have a problem. That is the problem with this place, if you have a problem it will remain your problem because they care nothing about their tenants, just bring in the rent money once per month then leave them alone. Why is stickyhot looking for a new home if this place is so wonderful? I'll tell you why, this was written by either management or by someone who just likes to make waves. As soon as their personal life is threatened in the smallest way, their tune will change and the world will be against them. As soon as Section 8 housing moved into the area, the neighbors began to decline in status and people like stickyhot are now our neighbors. That is why we must move and move quickly.

Think this place is bad huh? Move and tell me all about your new place when you get there. I've lived in poorly managed apartment complexes and this is definitely not one of them. Oh by the way...I am not a staff member...only a renter so no need to wonder. I understand the concerns and would personally be pissed if this happened to me but I am inclined to agree with hienze57. It's too bad that stuff like this happens but move anywhere in Dallas and tell me that it is 100% safe (verifiable data will be needed for proof). It's my opinion that the staff here do care but in cases like this they can only do so much. Try moving up the street if you really want to see how staff can forget who pays their salary. This place is a breath of fresh air and I am very glad to be here. |
