Has improved, but that's not saying much

I've lived here since April, 2004. I haven't really had a horrible experience, but haven't had one I'd boast about, either.

Maintenance is an issue. I have a dog and maintenance will not enter an apartment that has an animal without a resident being present...which I understand and appreciate. So, I ALWAYS call to schedule maintenance repairs for a time when I can make arrangements for the dog to be put up or for someone to be in the apartment, but maintenance does not adhere to appointments. Instead, hateful notes are left on my door about the dog being out. When I spoke to the property manager about it, I was told the maintenance staff was too busy to stick to appointments and I should just leave my dog locked up at all times. This is supposed to be a pet-friendly complex, and if maintenance will not enter without a resident in the unit, then repair appointments are necessary.

The residents themselves aren't overly worse than they are anywhere else...it's the residents from neighboring complexes that are the issue. Ex: we have a half-court basketball facility which residents can't use because residents from next door are always on it. The weight-room machines are missing pins because people steal them, so you have to bring a screwdriver with you when you work out.

Parking is perhaps the worst issue. There are no assigned parking spaces, except covered. This includes visitor parking as well. If someone in your building is having a party, you'd better be prepared to hike halfway across the complex to get to your apartment. My building has 24 apartments, all 2-bedroom, all occuppied, with 2 cars per apartment. However, there are only 10 spots in front of my apartment (2 are handicapped), with an additional 24 spots across the parking lot (10 of which are covered and asigned) that must be shared between my building and 2 others....who each have 24 fully occuppied 2-bedroom apartments.
