Good for the price

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I lived in a one bedroom upstairs corner unit for two years while in grad school. For roughly $500/month it was a pretty good deal. Because they are cheap relative to other nicer apartments, the Bend tends to attract college kids and just out of college kids so there tend to be a few noisy parties.
Yes the buildings are kind of old, yes I did have roaches once. But the apt had new carpet and paint when I moved in and a free steam cleaning everytime I renewed. Crown molding and a washer/dryer in the unit were nice. The roaches appeared about 6 months after I moved in. They were getting into the lower cabinets and getting into some food down there. I found that they were getting in via some gaps in the back of the cabinet behind the drawers that led into the wall. I sealed those up and never had any more problems. The grounds are great and you have equal access whether you pay the high rent at the Lakes or Northbridge or the dirt cheap rent at the Bend.
When I graduated and started making money I moved to a 2 bedroom overlooking one of the ponds in the Lakes. Mostly 30 somethings here, fewer parties, more expensive but worth it.
