I had a very bad experience with Julie/Manager at Bent Oaks Apts. I put a deposit to reserve an apt. with a signed application, but I later found a better place. I called two days before my move-in date, and told her about my situation and that I need to cancel move-in. She said I will lose my deposit plus damages for reserving this apt. and if I don?t pay, she will send it to collection. I was so upset, I don?t mind losing my $100.00 deposit but I disagreed about paying other charges, because I have not signed a lease agreement. I immediately called someone I know that used to work in apt. leasing and asked about this situation. She knew right away that this manager just wanted to give me a hard time. We went down to Bent Oaks leasing office and spoke with Julie/Manager face to face. The manager said that when I signed an application that means I signed a leasing agreement and their management have the right to charge me damages for holding the apt. I told her that when I signed this application no one mention that. She said, and I quote "I am not your mother" and since I had already signed this application and that I am responsible. I asked for a copy of this application that I had signed, she refused to provide one. MAKE SURE THIS DOESN?T HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!!
