I was swept away by the beautiful scenery, emaculate model, and friendly office staff, so I signed a lease on the spot. When I actually moved into my apartment, I was blown away by the filth and disgust. The atmosphere around the complex is very unsettling, especially at night. The only thing acceptable in my apartment was the carpet, only because they replaced it before I moved in. The appliances were working, but that's the only positive thing to say about them. There was water damage under both sinks, the cabinets had not been cleaned out (I found food and straws in them), someone had spraypainted the inside of the cabinets to cover up goodness knows what, the walls were beat up and shoddly patched, the fan in the bathroom didn't work, and the vents had so much dust/mold in them that I couldn't even breath at night. Also, I lived on the third floor, and it was nearly impossible to get my washer and dryer up the stairs because they were so ridiculously narrow. As far as parking goes, if you don't get a spot by 4 or 5, you can forget even parking within a reasonable distance of your apartment. Walking across the dark complex at night is certainly not safe...
When I went to the office to complain, they were very friendly, and it seemed as if they have a lot of experience in dealing with lease cancels. They were incredibly polite and understanding, returned all of my deposits and prorated my rent, and canceled my lease on the spot with 30 days for me to move out.

Sure wish I could say the same. We have the same issues and problems and we have to pay a $300 transfer fee, or stay and deal with it.
