Not Worth The Headache

One of the best things that I have learned from my awful experience at Camden at Farmers Market apartments is DO YOUR RESEARCH! After living in apartments for 15 years, I found living at Camden at Farmers Market the worst experience that I have ever had. If you work downtown Camden is conveniently located, but you will pay a high price (and not just rent) to live there.
The worst issue is the noise. Noise on the street is one thing and it's to be expected. I could even handle the drunks walking back from Deep Ellum (at least they are not behind a wheel). Being able to hear the conversations of homeless people under your window at 5 AM is quite another issue. I constantly had problems with noise. At first I thought that it was just my neighbors being loud and often times it could have been. But don't expect the management at this place to do anything about it if you have that problem. If you live here and your neighbor does not have surround sound or children, please be thankful. This complex was cheaply made and it shows. The apartments are big and the money that was spent on the nice landscaping should have gone for better insulation within the buildings.
One day after I had swept the floor in front of my door, I left and went on an errand. When I came back, whether it was the wind or what, I found a pile of dirt had blown under my front door. And I wondered why heating and cooling bills were high. When I first moved in the wiring was so messed up that I did not have hot water for three days. It took three days or ranting and teh maintenance crew five times to come to my apartment before I had hot water.
As far as the gym goes, I had no issues there. I went to the smaller gym and found the equipment there to most usually be working and the gym was kept tidy.
The office staff members were not friendly or unfriendly. They pretty much just sat at their desks like unhappy slugs and managed a smile every once in a while if you walked in for something. Security is pretty much nonexistent, so just use common sense and watch your back if you decide to move here. Several times during the day and night hours, I found the gate to the parking garage open. If you ever took the time to walk around the apartment complex, you are glad that you have to have a key card to get into the parking garage and pedestrian gates. But having an open garage gate there is like giving a go ahead to the local criminals to come and take things out of your car.
For those who have had a good experience at this place, I say that you are lucky. I expect that if the quality of this place does not increase that it will soon become a cheap ghetto for more riff raff or be mowed down and hopefully better quality of buildings constructed in its place.
