My roommate and I moved into Camden on 5/19/06. The first day we were moving in, we couldn't get into our apartment because we were given the wrong keys. I noticed it was a few minutes before 7 so I raced over to the office and ended up getting the key used to show the apartment because mine were misplaced. I asked the employee who was helping me to wait until I got back from trying the key to make sure it worked and she was upset about it becaus they were near closing time. It was Camden's fault in the first place so the least she could do was wait and see if I could get into my apartment since the lease did start on May 19th and I was paying pro rated rent beginning on the 19th. We got our keys the following day along with the mail box keys. The keys worked. The mailbox keys didn't! I returned them and they gave me a new set which did not work either. I sent management an email expressing how upset I was and they said they would have new keys placed in my apartment that afternoon. I got home at the same time they were dropping the keys off and I asked her to try it herself. AGAIN...they did not work. They ended up having to put in an order to get the whole lock replaced. Here we are...over 2 weeks later and we still don't have access to our mailbox. We also did not recieve our access cards until about a week later and we kept having to harass them about that.
I totally agree that the buildings are poorly insulated. We can hear, what seems to be, people stomping around upstairs and it's awful. I wake up in the morning to baby's crying and people talking. I can hear when someone's flushing the toilet and taking a shower.
The call box is another issue. I'm still fighting with management to get our names input correctly so our guests will have a way to get in rather than walking down to the gate ourselves each and every time we have a visitor.
We have lived in Camden 18 days and have already had a really bad vibe thus far. Management is just really slow to do anything about your issues. I've sent email after email and have visited them and nothing seems to be getting done. I highly doubt my roommate and I will be renewing our lease. We just moved in and are kicking ourselves in the butt for signing a year lease! We're just counting the days.
