I lived at Camden for just about a year and do not have many nice things to say about this complex particularly. General things are advantages, though.
Pros:
Close to Farmers Market
Mere minutes from any major highway
Walking distance from downtowns shops and diners, close to Greenville Ave. and Uptown.
Cons:
Homeless people just about everywhere (weather permitting, of course)
Neighbors that don't pick up after their animals
Crime, even in the gated parking garage.
I realize that in Downtown Dallas there is a high crime rate and there are several homeless shelters which these people float in and out of. However, I currently live in another Downtown building very close to Camden and have yet to experience the mass amounts of homeless people here.
I have seen homeless people sleeping on the benches outside of our apartment, a man peeing onto someone's 1st floor patio in the middle of the day, another man bathing in the water fountain, constant begging of change and what not. I have been approached during the daytime and late at night (which was VERY creepy). I work in a restaurant so my hours are never the same. It is almost impossible for me to avoid coming home late, and it is very important to me that I feel SAFE at home during those days that I do work late. I was also robbed inside the secure parking garage late last summer. Thankfully, Dallas PD was amazing during all of this.
Late weekend nights we experienced drunks banging on the walls and yelling within the breezeways and from the streets, even knocking on our windows. Not cool. The only time I used the pool my friends and I were verbally berated by the security officer. Who then followed us back to our apartment. Seriously' We aren't 5 years old. Did I mention we were still within the hours of using the pool, in "proper" swimming attire and were not drunk nor being loud. The other tenants in the pool were allowed to stay, however.
The gates were always malfunctioning; they were either constantly left open or the code was not working. This was a pain, and did not leave me with warm fuzzies late at night.
We were even lucky enough to have neighbors in our building that didn't even bother to clean up after their pets in the breezeways.
Maintenance paints the breezeways every now and then but do not give you sufficient notice. So there were some mornings I tried to walk outside and was told not to because of wet paint. I'm so sorry.
The only thing I loved about this complex was the interior of our apartment. We had SS appliances and dark wood cabinets (this is not standard in all units, though). We had a lot of space, and a nice layout to work with.
It was frustrating for us to leave because Camden is in such a great location and close to so much of what Dallas has to offer, but depending on one's personal experiences you can grow to really hate a place.
I, personally, did not enjoy my stay at Camden, but if any potential renters find it safe and at a good price, then by all means go here. Again, this is my personal experience and due to it, I would never rent at any Camden complex nor would I recommend it to family and friends.

I never understood why they would paint the breezeways when I lived there. The rain makes the floor completely slippery when even slightly wet. I almost hurt myself several times.
