Good Price, Great Location, Crazy Neighbors

The location is great, there is plenty to do around, whether the Cedar Springs area is your thing or you prefer the uptown scene. Grocery store and great eating places within walking distance (Eatzi's & Whole Foods are right up the street). Seems to be quite a bit of drug activity going on between some people at the complex. The complex is small, but for the most part everyone keeps to themselves. There are three or four people that will stop and say hi. High-strung landlord, if your dog poops in the wrong place or if you leave a trashbag outside your door for two seconds you will get a notification on your door within 24 hours (but she is nice enough to use clip art to make it pretty). Unfortunately, the walls are VERY thin, there seemed to be a few troubled couples in the complex and it's REALLY difficult to NOT know their business. Sometimes you come home late and think you just walked onto the set of Jerry Springer. Grounds are well-maintained, for a small community it is nice having the maintenance people on hand. It's gated so I never heard of anyone having problems with crime unless they parked their cars on the street. There are often homeless people in the dumpster at night and in broad daylight though. GREAT for people-watching, we had quite a few characters switch, sway, walk and run down the sidewalk in front of the gate. Overall, the place might have had a little too much personality for me, but it was an interesting experience. The fixtures and setup of the place is less run-of-the-mill than big corporate complexes. You get a lot more attention from the landlord and maintenace people than you would at a larger complex, but I think I'm going back corporate - sometimes anonymity is a good thing.
