The upsides: Great Uptown location gives you a bird's eye view of all Uptown thousand-aires running to the West Village watering holes. Interiors are nicely outfitted with granite, stainless, and laminate hardwoods.
The dirty downsides: Gables as a corporation is, um, well....like your ex-girlfriend who used to fart on the couch. I can't describe them any other way. They look good on the in/outside but have nothing to offer. This "upscale" community demands the price but forgets to return the residents with the basics. Turnover at the front desk is as high as a kite. As mentioned here, the elevators break down more often than my ex- who was coming off anti-depressants. I renamed the the elevators "ThyssenCRAP" instead of "Thyssenkrupp". I got to know the elevator repairman by first name. I think his name was Buttcrack Chuck...poor guy. I'm sure Gables got these elevators from the scrap yard and saved thousands since no other property would buy them.
But I digress....its not all Debbie Downer here. The building management is nice yet apathetic. It all goes back to corporate philosophy. Gables, as a corporation, is that pretty ex-girlfriend that you once had that still farts on the couch.
