I moved into Gaston Yard in November and have been there almost 2 months now. I had read the reviews online and was a bit worried when I first moved in. I really enjoy it though. I live on the 3rd floor away from the parking garage and face Gaston Avenue (as opposed to Deep Ellum) closest to downtown. I think that the location of your apartment here can make a big difference.

Everyone's main complaint is the noise. Where I am, there is very little noise. Occasionally on the weekends, there will be people coming in drunk from Deep Ellum, but who cares--its the weekend! Now if people starting doing that crap on weeknights, I would be a little more upset, but my apartment is very quiet and I cannot hear ver much noise at all. Every now and then a car alarm will go off, but this is what you have to deal with if you live downtown.

Our apartment is a large 2/2 and is very nice. Similar apartments closeby or in uptown would cost $1200 or higher (usually much higher). I pay $825 and feel that I am definitely getting my money worth. We have had a few probs in our apartment (disposal clogged, toilet clogged), but maintenance has always come within 24 hours (except on the weekend).

The fixtures in the apartment are kind of cheap (cheap toilets, cheap disposal, cheap cabinets), but the apartment cleans up very nicely and friends and family that have come to visit think that the apartment is beautiful.

Overall, I am happy here and like coming home to my apartment.
