My ex lived here for 6 mo. while we were engaged, and then I moved in after the wedding and we lived there for another 6 mo. From the first it was a nightmare. We only saw the model...not the actual apt. before move in. The apt. vents were FILTHY, walls scuffed, patio concrete was stained and dirty, old mattress behind patio needed taking away, paint needed touch ups, laminate flooring had been patched with a different color flooring and had sticky stuff that always attracted dirt to it, and the windows in the bedrooms were clamped shut (BIG fire hazard!. We reported these things, and they didn't get fixed. We went back, and found that within 2 weeks of living there a new manager had come. Then within 2 weeks the "new" mgr. was gone and another new mgr. was there. Our noisy neighbors were a constant complaint. I was always scared to go out after dark, as we hadn't been told that our 1st floor apt. would be below parking lot level in an unlit area. We fought to get some of the things taken care of, but many never were. We were glad to move. Suddenly in March 2003 I got a call from a collections agency! Me, the one who always pays early! Devonshire was accusing me of not paying rent my last 1 1/2 mo. there!!! I had to go to the bank and pay to get old bank statements (which took forever as it had been from the previous year), find the check numbers and have them pulled and copied (which again took forever). Then I had to insist that I give the apt. a copy of these records. It didn't matter! They insisted that they had to find their records. This took an entire week! I called constantly. By the way, there was a NEW mgr. at this time...in fact the whole office staff was new. They didn't bother to call me when they cleared me...I was just suddenly told "Oh you're clear! Didn't ___ tell you'" When I spoke to the mgr. she acted like she understood how stressful the situation had been and how upsetting, she promised to refund the $ it took to get the checks copied and give me an apology letter in writing. All I got was an envelope with a notebook paper folded around the cash! No apology! I spoke to the manager at corporate office in charge of this property. She was rude and unprofessional. She said I was cleared and NO ONE owed me an apology. She said that this manager had been doing her job after coming and fixing the previous managements problems. In other words, I was a problem cleared and dealt with--not a person with feelings. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM AN APPLE RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY AGAIN!
