Can't beat the price for the size...

I've lived in the Village for 11 years in four complexes with roommates and without roommates. Now I'm roommate free. You can't beat the location and the value. Close to shopping, restaurants, bars, a great mall with nice theatre, the highway, 6 miles or so from downtown. Close to the most convenient cross street south of LBJ...NW Hwy. They take good care of the place. Nice to have the Village Country Club and the sports fields nearby. The Club has a workout facility, a restaurant/bar, great pool with bar and summer weekend entertainment, putting green, tennis courts, small driving range, movie nights, etc. Lots to do there if you choose to take advantage. As noted by someone else in the other complex posting, the early leafblowers do drive me crazy. I work from home so I have the pleasure of listening to them do lawn maintenance on either side of my building for a couple of hours every week. However, it's not their fault I work at home. I'm paying $765 for a 940 s.f. 1 bedroom with den. It's huge! I have a great patio overlooking a grassy area. I hate the people who don't clean up after their dogs but, again, not the fault of the complex. Maintenance staff is awesome. Office staff is so-so. Seems like I rarely see the same people twice. However, I really only go there to pay rent and renew my lease so my expectations are pretty low. Note: Don't rent an apartment where most of the windows face west...summers are brutal and even blackout curtains aren't that helpful. It's an older building so the walls are thick but the insulation isn't that great. Lots of parking by my place but it's not that way throughout the complex. Would love to have new appliances but what I have works fine. I did notice that both my downstairs and across the way neighbor have new microwaves. I've always felt safe in the Village but don't do stupid things like keep my doors unlocked. This isn't Mayberry, Opie. The Village overall is miles above the apartments north of Northwest Highway...don't dare go there...I don't even like to drive over there. Anything off Park Lane...bad, bad. Technically, I can hear the DART train since I can see it from my back windows. However, I honestly don't even notice the noise anymore...haven't noticed it since my first month here. I'll stay until I buy a house. Not too many children here but a few. Some SMU and Baylor students live here but it never gets too rowdy. Overall, not as fabulous as some other places but those fab places don't always get the ratings I'd expect for them nor have the location. Most of my friends have lived in the Village at one point or another. Actually, many people who moved here after graduating from college have probably lived here at one point or another.
