Its an okay place to live. The price is nice, but the floor plans are a tad on the small side.

We have had a MAJOR pest problem from the start. A month after we moved in, we kept finding ants on the carpet (so many that I bumped up my time table of buying a vaccuum). They went away during the winter, but now they are back! I have complained FIVE TIMES to the front desk to no avail. They say that someone came (and I even find a little slip of paper saying they came), but I still have ants in my kitchen.

The people who live near me smoke at least two packs a day, and as a result, our apartment tends to smell, too. Its not very noticable, but when I visit my parents, who have a very clean house, I can smell smoke on my clothes (and I never smoke, and I never go to venues where smoking is allowed).

There was a problem when we went to install our washer. There was no turn valve for the cold water. It took two and a half weeks for them to get a little turn valve, they turned on my water, and then TOOK THE VALVE BACK OFF. Which means I will have to place another order when we move out just so we can unhook our washer.

My car was broken into during the winter time. My CD player and my toll tag were stolen. They didn't break a window (just popped the lock...I have a 96 non-automatic lock vehicle), but I still had to take time off work to cancel my toll tag and get a new one, ect. The theif also stole my access card, which I reported to the front desk. They told me they have no way of tracking access cards, and that if I wanted another one, I had to pay for it. I refused to pay for another card to their complex when mine was STOLEN AT THEIR COMPLEX. So I just use the call-in box and call my roommate to let me in.

There are access gates into the complex, but everyone and their mother just sits outside in the parking lot waiting for someone with access to open the gate. It is not a secure complex, no matter what they tell you.

The complex is also located near Addison airport. Which means...you guessed it...fly overers by small aircrafts. You can hear them, they do make a lot of noise, they fly right over the complex, they are noisy, they will wake you or your child up.

The air conditioning has broke three times since we moved in last year. Often times, it is fixed quickly, but you still have at least one day of sitting in your hot apartment.

HOWEVER...

All of the staff at the complex are VERY NICE. They listen to you (even if things don't get fixed), they attempt to address your problems. They are friendly, ect.

If you're looking for an "alright" place to live that has a nice (cheap) price, then this will work. Just be sure to set the alarm to your apartment and get renters insurance.

We moved in because our primary concern at the time was money. That has since changed, so now we're moving out. It wasn't a horrible experience, by any means, but it wasn't stellar either.

You get what you pay for is my response. I work in the apartment business and can say that all of your issues are issues that are not directly a responsibility of the management. While they should listen and empathize they cannot completely prevent car vandalism, ac breakdowns, neighbors that smoke, etc. They probably treat your apartment for pests as best they can but Texas has a huge pest problem all over(as well as car crimes), this isn't something that one apartment community can control. The aiport was there when you moved in and now you know what to look for when you move to your next apartment or home (trains, airplanes, construction, etc). Sounds like they have done a good job all together for taking care of an older property. They are a competitor of the property I work for and I felt the need to explain some of this to readers who have the same illusions of control that you do.

Thanks for the the tip about the washer, ants, and airport! Man, these are major issues no matter what the rentapartments representative says. You should not have to deal with these issues. Plenty of cost efficent apartments in the area do not share these issues.
