I have lived in Huntington Lakes for a year, and it just keeps getting better! I used to live in The Village, but because they were tearing down my complex, I decided to look around. I visited apartment after apartment and was pleasantly surprised with Huntington. It is like a relaxing oasis in a sometimes fishy neighborhood.

Here's what I like:
-extra touches in apartment (nice fake marble counters, crown molding, beveled edges on mirror, garden tub, huge closet, high ceilings, track lighting, paneled doors, linen closet, tons of cabinets and counter space in kitchen, etc.)
-helpful, nice office staff
-maintenance (always prompt and sweet to my two puppies)
-quiet, calm atmosphere
-big trees
-police presence (walking and driving in complex daily)
-location -- close to major highways (only a 30 minute commute for me) and shopping -- you can get pretty much anywhere

Here's what I dislike:
-neighboring apartment complexes (police sirens, people going through the trash, stray animals, sometimes gun shots.. but it seems to be contained.. I've never had a problem or heard about anything happening here)
-cable policy (complex makes you order Grande Cable -- limited choices and expensive -- finally decided to get satellite)
-puppy park is locked/closed most of the time (and it's not really a park -- it's grassy area around a culvert where scary people walk to travel between apartment complexes)

Overall:

Huntington Lakes is a great deal, relatively safe, and gorgeous. The people, staff and neighbors, are friendly.
