After reading many of the different compliments and complaints that have been posted, I have been encouraged by my staff to respond.

First I would like to say that after reading many of the different apartment communities reviews, I have noticed that the majority of the reviews are negative. It seems to be true that if you are happy, you generally do not run around telling everyone how happy you. However, if someone is angry, they will quickly look for the first person they can tell. I understand this is human nature. Yes, we have had a few unhappy or unsatisfied residents, however a resident will always be unhappy when they don't hear the answer they wanted to hear or get the result they wanted to get.

The entry labeled "like living in the ghetto" is from a resident who recently decided to move. They wanted to give a 30 day notice and our policy has been a 60 day notice for the past two years. The resident was livid with us for holding them to the 60 day notice. They had lived her for awhile and in fact the complaints they had about crime and the manager's resistance to help was a manager who hasn't worked here since 2002. We attend crime prevention meetings regularly and try to encourage our resident's to be careful and observant of their surroundings. In addition, we have to remind the resident's to please call the police if they are a victim of any type of crime or see suspicious behavior. Many of the resident's are adamantly against calling the police. There is not alot we can do if a crime is being committed and no one will call the police.

In response to the resident whose apartment bedroom kept flooding. Number 1 - yes we moved them into that apartment because there hadn't been a problem with that apartment for the previous three years and no complaints from the previous residents. It did take some troubleshooting to determine how the water was coming up under the floor, but during this time, I called the resident personally everytime it rained to ask her "had their apt gotten wet and would we need to call a wet vac". I also offered to move them into another apt exactly like the one they were in and pay for the movers while we continued to work on the leak. However, they declined my offer. In the end, water was getting in through the siding only during those heavy terrential rains and going straight down to the foundation and then creeping under their baseboards and into their bedroom. The upstairs apt never got wet so we hadn't originally thought it to be siding. The problem has been resolved and I replace their bedroom with brand new carpet and pad. The last I had heard is that they were happy and everything was fine. I was shocked to read this online.

We love our resident's and will do anything in our control to make them happy. Sometimes things are out of our control.
