Am I living with blinders on'

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2006
I have lived and still do live at this complex since 2001. Now I will be the first to admit yes there has been some crimes that have happened here, but honestly crime can happen anywhere. It's not like there are crimes happening here all the time. In the 6 years i have been living here, i know about 3 or 4 crimes that have happened. In my opinion that isn't all that awful. It could be a lot worse.
Now I live in a prime location on the property by the mailboxes, now maybe my place is just in a better area, but all these people talking about tons of crime and drunken domestic problems, i know nothing about that. I have never heard anything about that. Yes a few crimes in the last 6 years.
As far as the buildings, yes they are older buildings, but in my opinion management is doing quite a bit to keep them in great shape. I know that the roof (well the shingles and leaks) on my building have been replaced and or fixed within the last couple of years. As far as termites, I know many people in this complex and I know nothing about termites. As far as the high electric bills, well they are doing what they can to fix that. I know i lived in the biggest size townhome here, and i have had REALLY high electric bills. Well i guess I did what normal people would do and I notified management. Well they are having more insulation put in ALL the buildings, and they fixed my situation by replacing my air conditioner with a bigger one. The longest I have ever had to wait for maintenance was when I was waiting for the new air conditioner to come in, and even that only took a couple days. So I don't know what these people are talking about with it taking forever to get things fixed. Whenever I have put a work order in for a repair, they have always come to fix it within 24 hours!
As for management. The only solution I can come up with for people bashing management, is that maybe their personalities just clashed or maybe the tennant had done something to make management not like them as much. I don't know. All I know is I have never had a problem with management. These people must think that managing an apartment complex is easy. It's not. There are going to be days where someone on the staff might be having a bad day, so maybe they aren't as friendly as they could be, but I will say this, talk to them the next day or the day after and i am willing to bet you will see the friendly staff member that you are used to. I really think many people that have bashed this complex have cut this place down way to much. I mean seriously it's an apartment. No apartment is ever going to be perfect. Someone had mentioned dog poop all over the property, well management fines people that don't pick up after their dogs. Granted yes, either management or a resident needs to see someone not pick up after their dog and report it, but honestly this property is cleaner now than it was a couple years ago. They have the little doggie poop station with the plastic bags and garbage in numerous locations. To bash management about a dog poop problem isn't right. That is people that have no respect and don't pick up after their pets. Don't bash management for that.
Just an update to my previous review. My husband and I actually downsized 9 months ago to a 2 bedroom 2 bath 1 floor apartment, and actually are even happier than what we were at the bigger apartment. The only problem we had was a shelf in one of the cabinets was warped and needed a new one, and the new fridge had a leaky ice maker. Maintenance was out here in no time and fixed both problems that same day.
Maintenance was recently revamped and only 1 or the previous are still here, and he is always on top of things. The other 2 I haven't dealt with when it comes to things needing to be fixed, but have spoken to Pat on numerous occasions, and he is nothing but a total sweetheart who you can tell is happy at his job and wants the tennants to be happy also.
The office staff is still just as wonderful as before, and are doing a wonderful job with trying to get the apartments updated a bit since it is an old complex. This complex would be totally without complaints if some tennants would really learn to use the "free" doggie poop stations. But as I said earlier you can't blame management for that. They will actually charge tennants a fine if they either see them not pick up or get a couple complaints about it as long as the person(s) that are complaining can give them a good description of the owner and the dog and a good idea on the area in which they live.
Anyway, I just had to vent and get these feelings off my chest. I just get so tired of seeing people bash this place the way they do. I have noticed most people that bash it, haven't lived here for more than like a year, maybe 2 years. Things don't change overnight people. Things don't change if you don't bring it to managements attention. So grow up. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
