I see these posts relating to loving the Mitchell Lofts and I feel the need to respond. It IS a beautiful space, but beyond that, there needs to be some enlightenment for potential renters. The wonderful tall windows in most spaces are single pane, so they won't help with your heating and cooling bill. The vertical shades have are fair, at best, in helping with the afternoon heat. The stairwells need cleaning. The pool is frequented by friends of residents more than residents, it seems. The garage parking is risky due to pigeons ruining your paint and theft. Did I mention theft? It appears to be a secure place to live, but that hasn't stopped years of vandalism to owners vehicles. In closing, shop carefully before choosing Mitchell Lofts. And don't expect to get much help from the office if you need it. They go through more office staff than a temp service. And due to the local bars nearby, expect people to park on your street on weekends and keep you awake at 2am when returning to their vehicles, if you tend to turn in before dawn. Oh yeah, way too many barking dogs (including pit bulls).

Shelie, please talk with M.Brown, our Community Manager ... Things have just gotten worse since her notice went out 06/05/08. The roof has become a party center, all hours of the night, by some of the residents here. Living here has become unpleasant since the notice ... Those causing problems in the pool area have migrated to the roof with their dogs & stereos. You can hear the dogs racing up & down the deck. Then there is the little boy that makes the roof his playground, running around loudly while spraying the deck with the garden hose ... All this goes on while his Mother just watches him. The deck is also used as an ashtray ... Potential Fire Hazard for this beautiful historical Dallas building, putting residents at risk. I have seen people throw their lit cigarettes on the deck. Why is the deck open 24 hours? The pool is not ... Same rules should apply to the deck, both are public resident areas with risks - Close the roof deck at 11pm, if some of these residents can't behave in a polite manner after many requests. It's sad it has come to this. Inconsiderate residents & the current Dart Rail construction noise make The Mitchell Lofts a place that I would not recommend anyone move into or sign a lease. Shelia, hopefully you can work with M. Brown to make some changes happen here!
