I happened accross this complex years ago when I first got divorced, and at the time I was going to the college right down the street and my job was less than 5 miles away, so it was perfect for me. I loved the grounds, and really...it is unique among apartments simply for the grounds of the complex. I have never seen a small creek running through a complex as it did with Riverwalk.

However, the beauty of the grounds was shortly overshadowed by the high crime rate of the complex, the noise from the complex behind Riverwalk, as well as the noise from within Riverwalk itself. I was fortunate to have fairly decent neighbors on all sides of me, but in the building directly across my balcony, it was a different story altogether. Parties going on til all hours of the morning, burglaries of surrounding units, trash everywhere. My nextdoor neighbor even had 3 break-ins within a month where someone got her sliding glass door off the track...and she lived UPSTAIRS!!

After 4 months of this, 3 staff changes, 6 unfulfilled maintenance requests, and a vehicle break in of my own, I finally advised the complex that as they were not providing me with their contractual obligations of maintenance and safety within the complex that I was breaking my lease, to which they understood and put into writting that I would not be held accountabel for doing so, and put it in writting.

Years later I find they placed a collection of over $1200 on my credit, and when I presented them with the letter stating I was essentially cleared of any and all charges, they said it was a forged document and refused to acknowledge it.


I have since driven by and revisted the complex many times over the years just to see how it looks, and nothign has changed. The grounds are still beautiful, but the staff inside is about as nice as an audit from the IRS....irritating and self serving. So if you feel like being abused, neglected, stolen from, and kept awake at night...by all means, move in here.
