I lived at The Saxony for two years and was pretty happy with it at first, but couldn't wait to get out by the end. I never had problems with the office staff, but I was terribly un-impressed with the timeliness of maintenance requests. It took an average of one to two weeks for maintenance to come out and that was usually after I made a follow-up phone call.

The location is great, with the exception of some surrounding ghetto apartments. The apartments could use some updating, especially the cheap, gawdy, gold chandeliers in the dining room.

As far as safety goes, ok at first, but I didn't feel too safe by the end. I was fortunate enough to never have my car broken into, but always feared that it would inevitably happen given the numerous warning letters we received about it happening to others. The side gate that faces the school is either stuck open or stuck closed, it rarely worked the last year I was there. I received a couple of notices regarding why it was stuck open... the first being the fire department said it was a safety issue leaving it open and the second being it couldn't be fixed due to all the rain. The rain has slowed down tremendously since then and I doubt it is still fixed. When it does work and it's between 10 PM and 6 AM, expect to drive ALL the way around the complex to get to your apt if you live on the other side. Also by the end, there were some shady looking characters beginning to pop up around there.

Rent was reasonable in the beginning, but when I renewed my lease they raised my rent by $70. They should have been grateful to have us live there considering that we had the third floor to ourselves for about a year before they could finally rent out one of the three other apartments.

And finally don't expect much of a deposit back. I always kept the apartment spotless, but they still claimed that the carpet needed to be replaced and charged me almost $700 for it!

I totally agree with this review. For what we paid to live there, it was not worth it. The rent went up every lease renewal to a point where we could have been living in a house for the price we were paying.
