This place is terrible!!!

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003

I lived in the Mid-Rise and in one of the Town Homes. Both places were terrible. The looks of this place was very appealing, but don't let the looks fool you. It's whats inside that counts.

The Mid-Rise was incredibly noisy. I had several noise violations and the police visited me several times because of excessive noise. I thought it was just my roommate was a noisy guy. I decided to check for myself. I went to my downstairs neighbor and asked to listen to my roommate while I was in their apartment. I know it was an odd request but they agreed. I could hear every move he made. I heard every step he took. And I heard him showering clearly. I was appalled that the noise was such a level that it was clear and distinct enough to understand from the downstairs neighbor. We made several adjustments in our apartment to dampen the sound but it was to no avail. I moved to a town house because of this issue.

The town house was equally as bad but for different reasons. The "security" gates never closed while I lived there (over a years period), my friends car was broken into and my girlfriends purse was stolen, the heat never worked properly, foot traffic from the restaurant below was usually drunk people late at night being very loud and boisterous. The list can easily go on.

I always brought these issues to the attention of the management office. I always got a courteous smile and a remark in the likeness of "I am sorry that has happened to you, hope your day gets better". No real resolution was every made on any of the issues.

I moved out of this apartment 2 years ago, and I am still having trouble with the main office. I moved out October 31, 2003. For some reason they are trying to charge me for November and December 2003 rent. It was as if they did not know that I was going to move out. Even though I did everything that the asked me to do prior to moving. (I wrote a letter 2 months in advance, I paid $600.00 to get out of my lease. And I dropped off all the keys, garage door openers, and gate openers.) Here it is 2 years later and my wife and I trying to buy a house. They have put a $2500.00 blemish on my credit because of their incompetence.

I have a meeting with my attorney this week to handle this matter. But, I am disgusted that it has taken over 2 years to even get this far on resolving the problem.

Be very cautious if you move in here. Get everything in writing and never try to change any of your plans. Stick to your lease 100%. If there is any variance, they cannot handle it and will charge you thousands of dollars. Believe me, I know first hand.
