Just Horrid. Period.

I no longer live at The Lowlands - excuse me - The "High" lands, and THANK GOD I'm free! The place really started to go down around 2000, when I moved out. My neighbor would fight and yell about wanting cocaine often.
I spent SEVERAL weeks without air conditioning in Dallas summer heat - all the candles in my apt melted into pools. The maintenance man that they hired then installed the motor for the a/c BACKWARDS, so it SUCKED air in through the outflow VENTS!! When I told him what he had done, he said no, it's CAT HAIR that's clogged all your outflow vents. CAT HAIR! I had to wait more days to get the motor actually installed correctly.
My friend and neighbor had a crack in the ceiling that he could see daylight through, and I marked the end of the crack with a pencil regularly so we could watch its progress across his celing. Amazing.
Once they painted everybody's patios. They sent out a notice that your patio would be painted the NEXT DAY, and you had to take everything off of it. NOT EVEN 24 HOURS Notice. Stupidly, I thought "well I have a BALCONY, not a PATIO, so I didn't take anything off my 2nd-story BALCONY. SURPRISE! When I came home that day, my bicycle and everything else on my BALCONY was standing on the grass down on the ground in front of my building, for anyone to come and take it. Amazingly, I only lost one item that I didn't really care about that much.
Discussing this with mgmt got me nowhere -they said legally they only had to give 24 hours notice. The thing that bothers me is that if I had been out of town or something, my belongings would have sat on the lawn for who knows how long!
The Highlands is a ghetto, not an apartment complex. STAY AWAY. There is affordable housing in Dallas that is safe, clean, and not personally degrading.
