DO NOT rent from power properties

Please, if you are moving to the lakewood area, DO NOT sign a lease
with power properties. i have been a resident for a year and while the
properties are sorta nice, the staff and owner are unprofesssional,
uninformed and some of the worst leasing agents i have ever deal with.
furthermore, they market the apartments to young professionals but there are
a lot of sketchy people living there. and for the price you pay, one
would expect to be treated with some respect as a resident.
HOWEVER, POWER PROPERTIES AND the OWNWER ONLY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND TREAT YOU LIKE TRASH.
My lease was ending on sept.30 and i mentioned i would be willing to look at other, less expensive apartments within their company.
When i said less expensive, they gave me the run-around and were not
helpful. Also - they are hard to deal with b/c almost always the apartments
they show online are never available then. So - what is the point' and
then the ones they do have are always more expensive then the ones
listed
ALSO THE LEASING STAFF IS THE WORST EVER- RUDE, INCOMPETENT,
LAZY, UNINFORMED.IF I WERE THEM, I WOULD BE ASHAMED OF MY WORK ETHIC. AS I WAS CENSORED WITH MY EARLIER POST, WHICH WAS REMOVED FROM THIS SITE, POSSIBLY DUE TO A COMPLAINT BY POWER PROPERTIES OWNERS, I CANNOT STATE THE NAMES OF THE MOST INCOMPETENT STAFF. However, seeing as it is the majority of the staff, take my word for it. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. If you want to deal with idiots, then i guess this is your place. But if not, find a different realtor.
On three seperate occasions, they failed to make apartment showings. the first occasion. the agent was 30 minutes late and even then no apology and a very rude leasing agent. I even contacted the main
office, letting them know they were 30 minutes late, and they did nothing.
they said they would find her and call me back, but i never heard from
them. when she did show, like i said above, she was immature, never
introduced herself, was unprofessional and just stood there while i looked
around. never said a work unless spoken too. now that kinda seems
appropriate as the owner of power properties is an idiot and can only hire people as stupid as him. the second time a complete no show and i was on my
LUNCH BREAK. even when the office was contacted and said they would send
someone else, no one came. i emphasized i WAS ON MY HOUR LUNCH BREAK, BUT
NO ONE CAME. thanks for wasting my time. and the third time,
they did not want to stay after work, at 5:30 to show me an apartment.
instead, they just left the door open for me.they even gave the security
gate code out to me, with out even checking who i was. one would think
after two no shows, they could stay at work 30 minutes longer.
they never returned phone calls, shuffled me around, lost information,
and backed out on promises given earlier on rent reductions. AND the owner of POWER PROPERTIES HAS THE WORST BUSINESS ETHICS - HE LIED TO ME ABOUT AN EMPLOYEE
BEING A TEMP, TO AVOID FULFILLING A PROMISE OF A RENT BREAK.
furthermore, the elec. often goes out in the complexes in the area, and
the staff can never be contacted to see if the elec. company has been
contacted ( for the apartments where bills are rolled in.)they
are also raising my rent by fifty dollars, despite being a resident in
good standing for a year. and no deal was offered. the one that was
offered was taken back. they are even charging me for a replacement lock,
even though my original keys i got on my move-in date, didn;t work. why
should i pay because you can't get me a working key' i had to go back
THREE times on my move in day to get a maintanece man to come change my
lock and give me a working key. in summary, this is a horrible
leasing company. avoid the hassle and don't sign with them. there is more to the story, but i cannot tell all, as my lawyer has advised me not to. and that should be an indication of how bad they are

I wish I had read your review before I signed with Power Properties, now I'm stuck in a long lease and miserable! Everything this poster said is absolutely true. You pay a lot, and get absolutely nothing in return. Management does NOT care about you, and refuses to respond to anything (get EVERYTHING in writing, and make friends with a lawyer, because you will need one). There are plenty of other properties in this area that are available...stay away!
