Noise and smell
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 10/2/2009
Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2009
I have lived here for some time. it is OK apartment complex, but be aware of few things before you move in:
PROS: Very nice view of Dallas downtown if you live on that side on 5 or 6th floor (the lower floors or other side of building do not have that). Very light apartments (whole walls just glass - this is nice in winter, but not is summer). Very close to hospitals, UT Southwestern medical center, grocery store Rio Grande - all walking distance. Close to downtown, uptown, oaklawn...Neighbors are mostly nice. maintenance people too.
CONS: Very bad smell on each floor of the main building - very very bad...also the kitchen vents are conneted so you get your neighborhgs odor inside your apt. too - this is really bad and main reason I have moved out. Very high electric bill (you have your own meter - and it is low, but you also get aliquot for the building and may pay about $100-200/month for one bedroom aptartment year round. The A/C does not have auto setting, so you have to turn it on or off manualy (bad in summer, night or if you are away). Manager Michael do not care at all about you and your needs. You have to remind him your requests multiple times to get things fixed. Only one parking per apartment, if someone parks on your spot or you have more cars, you have to park outside the gate. The glass walls I mentioned earlier let in a lot of light (also at night), and heat and noise from the outside (no noise from neighbors). The Love Field airport is only about 2 miles away, so plane noise and also trains are constant (you will get used to it in a month or so however). Outside the complex - mainly on Hudnall, Maple and Butler streets, there is a lot of weird people, homeless, drug addicted. Not nice for a walk and a little scary. It is gated community, but burgaries happen. I had my bike stolen once.
Price is OK for location but high for what you get (about $700 for one bedroom plus the high utility bill)
