In a nutshell, Verandahs at Timberglen has so many raccoons living in the pool and courtyard areas that I thought the manager was running that "2 months free for raccoons" special again. I can't swear to this...but I think I saw one holding an access gate pass in it's mouth.
It was a beatiful spring morning and I was innocently strolling through one of the courtyards. I thought I heard some rattling in the bushes. I poked around in the bushes with a stick and then, regrettably, I ignored it. Never, and I mean never, turn you back on Verandah Raccoon. They're deadly. Here's my story......
The next evening, as I was relaxing in one of the dusty lawn chairs in the pool area when I heard the some rustling in the bushes. I thought it might be one of the many strippers in the complex doing it with their boy(or girl) friends, but I was wrong.
All of this happened so fast it seems like a dream, or should I say nightmare. Three giant, militant raccoons came marching out of the bushes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The biggest of the three flashed some sort of rudimentary gang sign at the other two. That sign was the beginning of what turned out to be the most terrifying night of my life.
The three raccoons surrounded me. They began to make a loud, ear piercing scream that I now know was a call to begin the attack. As I sat there frozen with fear, an army of raccoons began to surround me. The leader then used his sharp claws to scratch "me stick, you die" into the grill in the pool area. I knew at that moment if I didn't run I wouldn't see morning.
