Seems like a good choice

Moved from Preston Greens (see my review there) because my husband and I are expecting our first child in January. Obviously we were impressed by the terrific landscaping, great pool, media room, etc. Who wouldn't be' However we are not the type to just sign a lease because of that. I checked with the Dallas PD and found out the statistics for crime in the area and while there is really no place in Dallas where there ISN'T crime, this is one area that's not too bad. I often see people out jogging, walking their dogs, walking with strollers, etc. in the area.

I was impressed with the layout of the apartments (we have a loft) and the "finished" look of the units. This is the first time I've lived in an apartment with crown molding, tile floors, new appliances, and nice cabinets, not to mention the huge bathtubs in both bathrooms. The buildings are less than 10 years old, and the HVAC units are fairly new. My old apt. had an electric bill ranging from $250-400/month (usually on the higher end), and I was amazed to receive my first electric bill (for the month of August, no less) at under $200. The buildings have excellent insulation and double pane windows. I can only hear my neighbors when they close their front door (the front doors here are springed and tend to slam shut, which I find refreshing. You can't accidentally leave them open.) and when they run up their staircase (it shares a wall with our staircase). Other than that I barely know they're there. I am feeling fairly confident that a screaming newborn baby isn't going to be too hard on my neighbors (new parents can't do much about that ^_^) when I can barely hear them. Either that or I have the quietest neighbors in the world.

Parking does seem to be a bit of trouble if you don't rent a covered space or garage but we rented an unattached garage in the next building (our unit doesn't come with an attached garage) with room in front to park the other car and that problem is now solved and opens up two spaces for other residents or visitors to park in.

I am absolutely in LOVE with the layout of this unit and am always amazed when I walk into the kitchen, it's the biggest apartment kitchen I've ever had. I like the under cabinet lighting and am overjoyed to have overhead lighting that isn't fluorescent! Our unit overlooks the rose garden and the scent of roses is great.

The pool gets a little busy on weekends and afternoons but it's big enough that hasn't been a problem. The staff is very nice and helpful, if a bit forgetful. I had to keep asking for a gate remote but I finally got all the remotes and cards I put a deposit down for. Maintenance has been great, and it's nice to finally live in a place where the maintenance staff speaks English! They've even offered to help me carry my groceries in, but that may be because I'm pregnant.

Curbside trash pickup is great, if we can remember to get it out on time. I don't like putting the trash out the night before, too likely animals will get in it, so hubby takes it out before he goes to work. Even if a bag breaks or animals get in it, the crew that picks it up grabs a broom and dustpan and sweeps up spills.

I feel comfortable and safe raising a child here, there is a playground in the center of the complex that seems in good repair. No cracked plastic or warped wood that I could tell. I haven't noticed a lot of children outside but those that I have seen have been fairly well behaved and quiet.

So overall I have liked living here for the last month and am optimistic that I will enjoy the rest of my residence.
