Just renewed my lease

I have been here for over a year now, I just renewed my lease for another 12 months. I love the location, that is the #1 reason why I choose to live in this community. The number #2 reason, is the community its self. If you choose to live in this area, this is by far the best community to lease from. I enjoy the grounds, and the residents, and management has been somewhat 50/50. If you are looking for a place to live based on management styles, I dont really know what to tell you. I do know that no matter where you go, turn over is aways going to be present in the management office. And the same goes for this place. I have had expereinces with some ladies that answer my questions, with a look in their eye, and a tilt to the head. And other ladies really show concern, and acctually call me back. So its really hit or miss, but I believe thats how it is everywhere.

Te recent storms created some damamge throughout the community, and I still wonder when they are going to fix the roof on all these buildings. I have called in maintenece requests for specific things I have found in disrepair in the community, and it took about 6 months to get them fixed. The most disturbuing was a water leak in the courtyard between two buildings. After 3 phone calls, and an email to the BIG office in Dallas, Nothing was done to fix it. The leak was costing someone money, wasting water, killing bushes, and creating a breeding ground for biting insects. I finally gave up, in hopes taht someone else would complain, and about 3 months after giving up, it was repaired. Those poor bushes. They just sit there dry dead and brown.
But, other then this, every single request I have made (aside from storm damage to my unit) has been promptly addressed, on the same day of the request even.

I cant really attest to the parking situation, as I have a garage. And because of my garage I have never had any problems with anyone breaking into my car. When I first moved in, there was a situation where my lock on my front door had been jammed with resin, or something. It was ruined, and needed to be replaced. That really scared me. But was fixed, and I never had a problem again.

The pool is great, I think alot of people rent here on basis of the pool. Before you do that, I would suggest seeing the pool around 3pm on a Beautiful Saturday. You may decide not to base you decision on the pool alone. It gets very crowded, and I think only about 30% of the people there are acctually residents or know a resident. The grills are convienient, but often broken. The new management cut back the overgrown greenery, but I think more could be sacraficed. There is too much shade. Its odd, that for such a large community, there is only ONE pool. but you can tell all the money went into this one.

The fitness center was one of the oher reasons why I moved here, but I was VERY dissapointed on my first visit. I failed to notice that there IS NOT an elliptical machine! So I just bought my own, and stuck it in my unit. LOL Other then that, I think its a great facility.

The access gates are another topic of conversation. Living right ON the Dallas Toll Road, everyone that drives by has a toll tag. And in order to gain entry into our community, all you need is a... TOLL TAG! maddness! I hope they at least are keeping track of who is who, going in and out of those gates using the toll tag info on each persons toll tag. Its convenient, but hardly safe. There was a time where the office staff sent out notices with a sense of urgency, to gather info on all access passes, clickers, and tags used by the residents. They said it was to transfer everything to gate clickers for each resident, but that was many months ago, and toll tags are still the means to gain access here.

All in all, I am sure everyone has had something good and bad to say about somewhere they lived. This is just another on of those places. But if this is the area you are looking to live in, the Verandas at Timberglen is by far the best community to choose.

P.S. The local area transit (DART) for the greenies, and mass trans people, is not very well planned in this area. I have already voiced concern to DART. I seem to think that since the area is situated on a very busy roadway, that local mass transit should be a no brainer. But thats just me. I think DART believes that everyone over here is loaded $$$ and okay with paying $4 a gallon to do local walking distance activities. Their only other option is a 2 hour bus ride, with 3 transfers just to go to the Target that is less then 2 miles north. *rolls eyes*

Im not sure if you realzie, most of your comments are negative? - You said staff wasnt that great - You said they were very unresponsive in fixing things - The pool is taken over by people who dont live here - Security is an issue because the gates are never closed, and you can access the gates with a toll tag
