Gotta Go Right Now!

When I first moved in all was well. One week later there was an ant problem and two months after that there was a roach problem which still exists today. Out of the 19 months I've lived here at least 17 of them contained water shutoff notices in order to repair plumbing problems and a couple of times there was no notification that it was going to happen. Definitely an inconvenience if you worked an afternoon shift as I did at that time. Also be prepared to hear the neighbors shower and toilet, which can be quite irritating if you're trying to enjoy a quiet evening with a book or a movie. I normally keep the bathroom door shut. Doesn't really help though. Parking in the evenings are a nightmare. My guests have usually had trouble finding places to park due to all the guest spaces being occupied. My car has been broken into once and my girlfriend's car was broken into on two separate occasions while visiting me. There has also been a robbery at gunpoint on the property. I rarely see courtesy patrol coming through and I seriously doubt that there is one in existence. There is secured access but it really doesn't matter. People who don't live in the complex will just pull right up to the gate and wait for someone to use their gate remote so what's the point' Not to mention the gate is usually broken on the weekends anyway. There is a constant flow of traffic as well. I suppose because it happens to be a rather large community(987 units). I also believe that the property gets a kickback from the cable company if a certain number of residents are subscribers. Don't get me wrong, you can have satellite TV if you want provided you give a $100 deposit and show proof that you have $200,000 worth of renter's insurance. If you do not comply they will charge you $50 to unscrew the couple of bolts required to hold your dish in place. Luckily I'll be moving in a couple of months and I'm really looking forward to getting out of here. BuLYzGcKAVo8MQPlcXJq

HEY...just thought I'd let some of you know that in regards to satellite dishes apartment communities like to keep their residents "dumb" in regards to FCC laws on owning a dish....most get some kind of kickback from the cable company (i.e. free cable or great discounts). The FCC laws state that no landlord can impose restrictions on residents where it will inflate the cost of owning and using a dish. By them saying you need a $200,000 insurance policy, (the 100.00 deposit is iffy and might be illegal as well) they are doing just that and will lose their case. You may file a petition with the FCC and until there is a ruling the management can do NOTHING to you.... monitarily or otherwise. How do I know this? I fought my old apartment's mgrs. on this same issue. As long as you keep your dish off of "common areas" (roof, outside walls) you should be OK Good luck! |

In response to the cost that the Wildflower charges the $100 deposit, it is for any damages that may be incurred in the installation--it does not say that you will not get your money back once removed. The $200,000 insurance policy is in the event that the satelite is struck by lightening during an electrical storm and the building catches on fire, this will help pay for any damages if the fire marshall determines it is due to the lightening and the satelite dish coming in contact with each other. The Wildflower does not forbid the satelites they just ask for the rules to be followed or adhered to. The charge of $50 is only if you do not follow the rules at which is signed upon move in. You get a chance to read it so.....you pay the deposit, get the insurance needed, and you do not put it on the roof nor attach it to the side of the building or install on the grounds. Simple as that if you ask me....
