I've lived here since August. Right away there were issues because the credit card bill lists them under the real estate comapny in Chicago, so my parents disputed the charges. The Arbors should tell future residents that the name will show up as something totally different. It took quite a while to get this mess resolved. Also, right away the washing machine broke. The CREEPY maintenance guy took about a month to finally come out and tinker around with it for over an hour. Pretty soon after, he was replaced with someone else (unrelated). Apparently he broke the washer or something because it still did not work and was EXTREMELY LOUD. The rinse cycle never came on so we were trying to dry dripping wet clothes....which did not work out. We called and thought the dryer might be broken, but the new (nice) guy figured out it was the washer and replaced it with a brand new one. Unfortunately, this whole ordeal took about two months, and in the meantime we had to was our clothes at some laundromat. The entire point of moving into this apt was access to a washer/dryer without paying quarters!! The response time for mainteance is at least a month. I know the guy is very busy, so I would think the Arbors could hire a second guy, but apparently not. Also, the first 3 months we had a problem with HUGE FREAKY CRICKETS. These things are seriously like 3 inches long. They TERRIFY me and no matter how careful we were in opening the doors and avoiding letting things in, these damn things were everywhere!! On an average day, I came across at least 3 crickets. The Arbors staff told us that they had already fumigated and it was working because people had been complaining of dead crickets. Finally we just used a bug bomb fumigation thing in each room. I went through more than one can of bug spray on those things! It gets REALY NOISY. People are always partying and yelling. I always find beer bottles outside my patio (which, for the one bedroom is very small). This apartment is definitely overpriced. It is about the same size as ones that are half the price, but the reason I moved here was for the washing machine. There is also a tanning bed on the premises. I don't know who uses that except maybe all the frat guys and dtzy girls who make up the management. (The management is SOOO ANNOYING and comprised of nitwits.) There is also a "gourmet coffee bar" advertised which is really one of those machines where you pick a drink packet and it mixes it for you. All the drinks are gross, too. The "clubhouse" has a big-screen tv and foosball table, but it's only open during office hours, so I'm not sure who wants to hang out there while all the douchey guys are working. For all the added "benefits," I guess the price makes sense. I am probably going to move somewhere else when my lease is up, though.
