It's college housing...'nuff said.

Okay, I lived here for 4 years. Halfway through that 4 years, the complex switched from a conventional complex to college housing. That being said, the first two years were crazy! Loud parties all the time all over the complex. But, in the last two years (and the building of other college complexes) it has really quieted down with the partying. There are still parties and idiots who play loud music at 3am...but they're fewer and far between. If you've lived in a college dorm before...you have a decent idea of what it will be like to live at the Arbors. Plus, you HAVE to be in college to live here.
The building I lived in was loud in of itself but not how you would think. I always heard the pipes and building settling. One night, I was awakened by running water in the pipes from an adjacent apartment. My new complex in Lewisville is not at all like this, so I think the buildings could have built better. Plus, if you listen close enough, you can hear people and TVs in adjacent apartments without putting your ear up to the wall..not clearly mind you, but you can hear it muffled.
Parking is not great! Since it is a college complex, everyone has their friends over. And it seems that these people have tons of friends! This complex also actively tows ANY car without a permit. That means if you have a loaner car and park it behind the gate, IT WILL GET TOWED regardless if you live there or not. Make sure you and all your friends know the parking and towing policy. They DO spell it out when you move in and get your permit...you even sign a lease addendum for parking. So, it's not that people didn't know...it's that they forgot and didn't pay attention to the signs around the complex. Neither my cars, nor my friends cars ever got towed because I always knew what the policy was.
The good part is if you are a college student and like active college life...this place is for you. They do social events, but often involve going to the Fry Street bars...so if you're not into that, maybe the social events won't be for you. It is very close to UNT...but it'll suck if you go to TWU or NCTC as you won't be too close to either. Overall, it's very safe. I never worried about my safety or my wife's safety while we lived there and I worked nights a lot and left her home alone. She never told me she feared for her safety. The front gate is broken a lot but it's a veneer anyway...if a criminal really wants to get in, they will.
As far as office staff, they never had issues with them. I know some did but I am not going to speak about third party information. Seemed friendly enough to me but every situation is different.
I probably would recommend this place though if you get a one bedroom, it gets kinda expensive but they do provide cable and internet..so that helps with the cost. I wouldn't go back, mostly because I can't, I am not in college anymore. But even still, I am a little older than most everyone living there. Just don't fit in anymore.
