UPDATE!

I had long since forgotten about Coronado North when I was working at Target in Richardson and was helping a young college student select some things for "her apartment." We got to talking and she was telling me that she was trying to find stuff to fix up her apartment before she moved out because she had gotten a HUGE estimate from the apartment (of nearly $400) saying that she owed them $50 for a dirty stove top and whatnot. Her mother said "Yeah, I wish we had never rented there! I said "Where was that at'" and she said "Oh just some place up in Denton..." and then she told me about how they had treated her on the estimate and a situation witha fine for trash or something that wasn't hers and I said "where was it in Denton' She said "Coronado North and I understood right off.....

Don't be fooled by all the "coronadonorth" replies.

First Post:

I lived at Coronado North with a roomate from july 05 to july 06 and it was my first apartment. I enjoyed the experience but it really went sour at the end. The management was great initially. A girl named Stephani and a hispanic woman named Christina. We were at 2010 and we when we moved in there were no lower tenants. I worked at Chuck E Cheese's at the time and it was kind of a commute.

Anyway, at about 4 months in we got lower tenants. A approaching middle aged couple that really seemed nice initially. We spoke and all was okay.

Suddenly we got notices. Lots of them from the apartments threatening to kick us out. i spoke to the management and they said "it's just procedure" whatever that means and they told me they believed me. Eventually I couldn't stand it. The notices got really annoying. The night that the Mavericks lost to the Heat in the finals I was there and it was just me and it was quiet. I didn't jack the sound up on my 19" TV but still I got a notice from the apartments from downstairs.

So I found a house I liked in Denton, paid all my rent remaining (2 months) and split.

My 5th month there was the worst. At the time I had 2 bank accounts and I wrote my check for my portion of the renton the 1st and turned it in. It turned out I was lacking the cash, by 50 cents and it bounced on the 7th (you have until the 3rd to turn things in but they don't usually clear until the 7th) On the 28th (!!!!!!) they informed me they weren't able to recieve my payment and they charged me $25 a day from the 1st to the 28th. Not from the 7th. They didn't inform me until the 28th. had i known sooner it would have prevented me from having to pay almost TRIPLE what my portion was.

The managers and I knew eachother and I KNOW they had the power to waive it, but they didn't. That was the worst.

I was never contacted about damages, they kept my deposit, and then a $200 charge popped up on my credit from them. Whatever.

Oh, and that guy who lived under me and complained.... after being there almost a year he and his girlfriend split up. I saw a not on the door and they owed Coronado almost 1,000 and counting. I saw him a few months later at Kroger on Univerity and he looked bad. He told me that he and his chica split up and then he tried to sell me drugs that I don't do. What a loser, and they believed him!

Also, the apartments do look dingy and they are old and creeky. I couldn't get up to piss without it sounding like a spook house. Seriously.

I really enjoyed my time in Denton, the parking was great and the apartments were safe as safe can be but it wasn't worth maxing out my credit card to pay that one months rent charges unexpectedly.

Just find a cheaper place and live there. Don't go to Place to Be either though. A friend of mine hates it. Just get cheap. Most of Denton is pretty safe.
