I know the price is right but the landlord is a nightmare. He will slowly jack up the price of everything (from rent to laundry). He's a stubborn jackass and will squeeze every penny he can out of you. Don't bet on getting your deposit back. They also have a HUGE roach problem; the grounds are barren and full of feral cats. My allergies are worse than ever here. They attempt to change air filters every now and then but apartments are old and dirty. The parking lot is terrible. They are steep, unpainted parking lines and have giant potholes that landlord will not fix. My roommate and I damaged the underside of our cars from driving in and out of the parking lot. Other people park in the lots and owner will do nothing about it, despite the fact we're paying for parking.
If you want a bug-free, hassle-free apartment, go somewhere else. If you don't mind all of the above for a cheap price, then move here. Just don't expect to be heard when there's a problem or get your deposit back. Oh, also, enjoy the rent increase.
If you haven't had a problem with management, give it some time. You will. The management is a total nightmare. If you're credit is bad and you're not over the age of 35 you will not be taken seriously. Management is unable to deal with tenants in a reasonable manor. I'm 23 years old and I've had nothing but problems with this guy. He doesn't listen and he doesn't want to fix the problem. He lies, yells, calls tenants derogatory names, and hangs up on people. Recently, he lost my rent check. He doesn't call me, instead, he comes into my apartment UNINVITED to tell me that "I haven't paid my rent". He proceeds to call my mother (she's a cosigner) and calls her names and calls me "retarded" because I "can't walk from my door to the office".
I have many issues with this guy and have documented and recorded most incidents. If you move here make sure you record and document everything you can.

If you are so unhappy, why did you renew your lease? Did management really "lost" your rent check, or are you just trying to cover the fact you didn't pay your rent? You claim to have a roach problem yet management could never get into your apartment to perform pest control which they provide on a regular basis. You are 23 years old yet have problem paying your rent on time every month. Management called you as a courtesy (which they are not obligated to do) to remind you you didn't pay your rent and you never answer your phone.

genevievem, do you have something personal invested in this property?
You don't know that this person did not pay their rent, maybe the management did lose their check. Either way, the management should not have come into their apartment yelling at them. The proper response is to post a notice on their door and charge a late fee, this gives the tenant the opportunity to tell the manager to check for their rent again. Calling this person's cosigner and referring to the tenant as "retarded" is unforgivable behavior!
The roach problem is not excusable. How do you know that the management could not get into the tenant's apartment in order to spray? Obviously they could break in to yell at them!
I am glad that this tenant kept records of their experience with this frighteningly terrible management. I was going to send in my application today; guess I'll just save myself the money!
