Great place to live

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009

I lived here for one year in the largest apartment offered and loved it. The parking was usually nice and the farthest I ever had to park was at the end of the row in front of my building. I never had any problems with the management and for the most part they were quick to repair things. We always either had a notice that they would be coming to do something in the apartment in advance, or they would come within one or two days of us sending a request. We would get notices, just a few over the whole year, about any safety concerns or break-ins. I personally never had any issues of that nature though. The girls in the office were usually very helpful. The guy made me mad one time when I was expecting an urgent package. I kept calling every day and asking if there were any new packages for my apartment number. I think he checked the first few times and then didn't actually go check after that. After returning from the trip for which I had ordered the supplies, I came to find out that my package was in fact there and had been there quite a while. I came to find this on the phone with the very same guy. And he was very bouncy and happy when I went to pick the package up from him, obviously not remembering that I had asked him to go check for this package after it had arrived more than a week earlier. A word to the wise though: unless it's perishable, don't expect them to call you and let you know you have a package. You should call and check if you're expecting one.

The pool at the front was nice but usually a lot more crowded than the smaller pool in the center of the complex so we usually went there. The hot-tub at the front never got hot when I tried it. I used the fitness room several times but it's a bit limited so I usually went elsewhere. My roommate liked the jogging trails and there are a lot of people running one them usually. The computer center was opened right before I left and it was nice to have printing and such available.

There are a lot of dog walkers. Very pet friendly. There are baggy stations for clean-up but on occasion I would find fun little surprises on the lawn outside my door.

The apartment had great closet space (three bars in each of our walk-in closets I believe). My large furniture was no problem in my room or living room. The bathrooms had great counter space. Mine was the attached bathroom and it had a huge laundry hamper and cabinet space. I literally never even used entire sections of the cabinets and I could run a beauty supply store out of my place with amount of stuff I had. There were fans in the bedrooms and the lights had three different settings.

I didn't notice too much noise from other apartments except in the morning when people were getting ready sometimes I heard a shower or faint music. The only loud party music I ever noticed came from the complex next door because our building was very close to it. There was a nice mix of students and families in the complex also. There is a bus stop at the entrance to the complex on Colorado and it is extremely convenient for students. My roommate worked and went to school at UNT everyday without having a car for an entire semester here.

The kitchen had a good fridge and an old stove/oven but it did it's job and I never had an problems. The cabinet space held all of two people's dishes and such and the pantry was plenty big enough for all of our food. The counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms had been painted over quite a few times from the looks of it and the paint was cracking a tiny bit in places (flaking in my roommates bathroom). Once again though, not that big of a deal. The "wood" floors are nice. Not sure what they are exactly but they look nice and are easy to clean. Dishwasher worked well.

The balcony area was nice and we had a nice sort of high fence on the first floor so we still had a little privacy. The storage closet was plenty big for anything we ever needed to put in there.

We lived in a first floor corner apartment.
Our electricity ranged from $65-120 depending on the month and how conservative we were being (did have w/d in unit). Our water and utility bills were cheap. We got Charter cable and internet because that's what the office gave us info for. It was alright but the internet was never top notch and the cable would momentarily go out in inclement weather or on a couple occasions for no reason at all. We did get free HBO and Cinemax for a year which was cool. When the year of discounts ended and we were in our apartment for another month we canceled it. After quickly realizing that we wanted our internet back, I purchased a month with the Airimba internet that has signs all over the complex. do NOT do this. Terrible internet service. IF we could get a signal in the apartment it was super slow. Sometimes my boyfriend would go sit our at the end of our neighbors stairs to get a signal. They were however prompt to refund my money when I forgot to cancel it and was charged for a second month.

Move in and move out were fairly painless, minus the sad little deposit refund we received. A large red stain magically appeared under my rug at some point over the year, it's origins still unknown, and after much steam cleaning it was still somewhat visible. That I understand. However we were charged some ridiculous amount, the rest of the deposit less $38, to clean the bath tubs. I know for sure that both my roommate and I cleaned our bathrooms like maniacs but the showers were definitely old and the grout was never exactly a crisp white to begin with.

Overall my roommate and I were very pleased with this complex and now that I am looking at all of the complexes in Denton, I am missing Paces.
