I have lived here for a few years and have only had a few major concerns.

1) The manager, Erin, does not seem to be very good at working with people. If there is a problem her first response is to become angry and rude rather than actually solve it. She is also rude and defensive when you ask about problems on their end. It's hard to tell whether she is so rude and inflexible because of self esteem issues, her inability to problem solve or just because she doesn't like you. On the plus side there are two new people working in the office. They are younger and really easy to work with.

2) Safety is a concern, especially if you live on the outside streets. There are some insanely loud people who heckle people and threaten them when they walk by who live on Lindsey Street. Things left outside have been stolen in the middle of day. We're lucky enough to live on the second floor. I would be terrified to live on the ground floor. It's also not a safe place to live if you want to walk or bike to school. There are no sidewalks on Bernard. During the winter when things freeze you will have a hard time walking up and down your stairs and sidewalk since they do not do anything to clear them or make them safer. There are also times when all the outside lights near your entrance won't work and it's pitch black. The poses a major safety hazard.

3) Cleanliness. The grounds overall aren't that bad, but if you take a closer look around the buildings they're disgusting. In three years I don't think I have ever seen the pool water clean. I have only once seen people swimming in it(it's in the middle of the parking lot after all). I think this might be caused by the nearby highway, which you can smell distinctively should you choose to leave your windows open. The windows are also filthy. I just keep my blinds closed now because the windows are caked with dirt on the outside. I have complained about this a few times, but nothing has been done. For the last few weeks there has been an open pit up against the building next to us with water spilling out of it. I'm not sure what is going on there, but it doesn't look like they're fixing it. Hopefully the water is clean and the lower levels haven't flooded or started to develop mold yet.

Overall the rent is lower than neighboring apartments. If they wanted this to be a better place to live they would replace Erin and start keeping the place cleaner. Kitchen and bath updates wouldn't hurt either. It's an OK place if you don't mind the management, and living in an old, slightly dumpy complex.
