I moved into the complex when it was still Savannah Trails. The apartment had not been upgraded in years but the rent was cheap. After the new management came in and renamed the complex The Parks of Denton, upgrades began. Unfortunately, this fit under the heading of "Lipstick on a pig!" The office was completely renovated and a cappuccino machine and etched glass on the front doors. The rotted landscaping wood that was used for curbs was replaced with concrete - in the front of the complex only. The exterior was painted and individual apartments were renovated as they became vacant. In the meantime, wiring was old and failing. The light at the top of my stairway shorted out and burned completely through. My air conditioner kept throwing the breaker and I was told the units had not been replaced since the complex was built. The roach infestation was terrible. When I recently moved, I had to place my kitchen furniture outside and spray it down with insect repellant. There were nests behind the stove and refrigerator, and bugs were coming in between the walls and ceiling. My lease had run out, but because I gave 30 days notice instead of 60 days they are sending me invoices for rent,water, and late fees for the month the apartment sat vacant. The manager had previously told me she had a renter for the apartment and I did not owe the final month. I had decided not to renew my lease because the rent was raised but I was told my apartment would not be upgraded as long as I lived there - that only after the apartment was vacated did they renovate. However I was told that after a year I was entitled to a free carpet cleaning!
