Management Problems - RUN, don't walk to the next apartment!

The Mandolin has serious management problems. Instead of making their tenants feel welcome, safe, and appreciate they alienate their tenants and try to catch tiny mistakes. I made the mistake of paying my rent on Sunday morning before the office opened instead of by midnight Saturday and was charged market rent plus a late fee. What is worse--they taped an eviction notice on the inside of my door instead of calling to tell me that I owed $250 for being 9 hours late. I completely realize that this circumstance could have been avoided by paying my rent before the deadline, but most of the tenants at The Mandolin are hard working individuals and rent is one of the least important things on their minds. I can see if it became a habitual problem, but management should not go to pick up rent checks at 12:02 AM after it is due--that is vindictive. I will be moving out of the Mandolin at my lease expiration because of the unprofessional and unintelligent staff. I will also not lease another apartment managed by United Dominion. I work in sales and would advise the management to keep their tenants happy instead of intentionally offending them.

Isn't your rent due on the 1st?

A eviction notice is not given till the 10th of every month. You recieve two FRIENDLY NOTICES letting you know that you are late for your rent or that you have a balance. The office staff is just doing their job and do not need to be called unprofessional and unintelligent. Try paying your rent on time you might like the staff better.

The large raise in rent is do to the cost of living that is going up. And being 100% occupied, tells me that the customer service skills are not an issue.

I agree...I think the current management needs to attend Customer Service classes and learn "people skills". With the large raise in rent, they need to work on keeping tenants, not driving them away.

Yeah, tell me about it. The employees seem nice, but you have to tell them the same thing about 5 times before they act on what you tell them, whether it's a maintenance issue or something to do with paperwork. They play stupid like you never told them in the first place. VERY ANNOYING!!!

Wow - lots of comments here. I paid rent late one month ... and I don't remember it being a hassle. We -might- have paid market - and I do remember getting an eviction WARNING. That was a rough month! I walked into the office and talked to them about it. No matter who you are, that's their policy to deliver a notice. I agree with Stiffy83, because I've received those two notices. We lived there 2 years and had one really tough month. I agree with loveatfirstsight04 also - their occupancy rates are through the roof. They probably love the marketing that other communities send to residents here to lure them away (laughing). FoxyRockie: I wish I would have met you while I lived there, you sound fun! I actually moved out on the date that you posted (12/27/06). Also -- as far as FoxyRockie and Misipiqueen's comments go -- April, the manager, was REALLY sick at the time that you made your posts. There WAS a staff shortage that happened, and they made attempts to bring in staff from outside. There was a strike with the trash collection people (not specific to just this apartment community) -- and it was a nightmare. Many of the employees got sick. This was the only time it ever happened and I had already moved out. I went in to talk to the staff and say my goodbyes and let them know that I really felt for them. I hope that based on the date you posted your comment, that the staff has had the chance to make it up to you. [I just thought of a negative! They changed their coffee in the office because the 100% occupancy didn't justify the budget for extra leasing tactics!] |
