Fake charges when lease expires

I lived here for a 13 month lease. At the time I moved in there was a HUGE burn spot on the berber carpet from the previous tenant in front of the fireplace. I documented it, and asked for the carpet to be replaced. They said no. So I figure that worst case it's documented on the move-in report it would be ok. WRONG. I move out and ask for a walk through from them to sign everything off. They tell me "we don't do those, when the maintenance crew comes in next week they will record everything." I move out and they keep my whole deposit and send me a bill for $900 more to replace the berber carpet because of the burn. I have all the paperwork showing that it was there when I moved in. Instead of doing what was right, they said "well, you can take us to court, that isn't our problem." So now I have a collection on my credit and a pending court case. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE.

If any of you become victims of "rent concessions" please contact me at screwedbymansions@sbcglobal.net. These fees are illegal. If you know of anyone that has been charged rent concessions, please give them this e-mail address. Breach of contract(breaking a lease) people are welcome to respond!
